Here
are a few pictures of different types of hay. All photos, except the orchard
grass hay, are courtesy of the San Diego
House Rabbit Society.
Timothy Hay |
|
This is the best type of hay you can give your
bunnies. It should be fed in unlimited quantities. |
Alfalfa Hay |
|
This should be fed only as a rare treat.
It is is high in calories and calcium, both which are not needed
in large amounts. It can also cause a sludge in the rabbit’s urine. |
Oat Hay
|
|
Also another very good hay. Great at preventing GI
stasis. Great source of fiber. |
Bermuda Hay
|
|
Another good choice. Not as low in calories as Oat &
Timothy, but still a good choice. |
Orchard Hay
|
|
Another good hay,
although a little harder to find. |
