Thank you very much for visiting! I LOVE my rabbits so I decided
to make a page about them, and the proper care of rabbits. I have had my
bunnies, Annie and Emmie, for 6 years. However, I started researching about
rabbits long before I got them-probably a year and
a half before I even found which pair I was going to adopt.
I absolutely ADORE them! I wanted to share my knowledge with
everyone in hope that everyone who is meant to be a rabbit owner, will love
them as much as I do. Not all people are meant to be rabbit owners. Some people
think that they are meant to be rabbit owners, buy a rabbit, and then find out
that they aren't meant to have one in their life. That's where the House Rabbit Society (HRS) comes in. The HRS is a nationwide,
non-profit, all volunteer organization geared to saving unwanted, abused, or
neglected rabbits, and educating the public on the care of rabbits.
That's where I adopted my buns from. I'm very happy to have given
them a new lease on life, and I am always strongly suggesting that future
rabbit owners adopt from them,
or their local shelter.
Rabbits are crepuscular (not nocturnal) which means that they are
most active at dawn and twilight. During the long mid-day, they rest. This
habit fits perfectly into most family schedules: kids at school and parents
working during the mid-day, and home in the evening.
Rabbits should be kept INDOORS. As for
fresh air, an open window to circulate the air, is really all they need. But
not all the time as drafts aren't good for them. You can take them outside, but
it is up to you to
supervise them! An exercise
pen, like the one pictured below, work best. They also work good as a house, as
you will see throughout my website, in my pictures. DO NOT leave them
unattended! Hawks, raccoons, etc, are predators that will find rabbits in an
exercise pen, easy game. Predators are not likely to come near the buns if
there are humans around!
Rabbits can live for 9-12 years if they
are properly taken care of. My page tells all about the care of bunnies.
However, as with any other animal, disease can always shorten their lives, no
matter how well you care for your
bunny. This is why it is important to find a
good, experienced vet.
Well, I hope you enjoy my
site, and find it informative. Please feel free to contact me through e-mail, to make comments,
ask questions, etc. Also, please don't forget to sign my guestbook, and take my survey/evaluation of my site.
Comments and feedback are greatly appreciated!!
Exercise pens are work great in
the house for bunnies and make it a breeze to move buns from one room to the
next.
@Here are the stars of the site@
Annie is the black one and Emmie is the
white one.
