Story of Historical Re-Actor Ed Moch and "Deadwood"
.Ed Moch
Is ED Moch... A Cousin To James Butler
"Wild Bill" Hickok, and W.E. Adams???
"Goodness... you look like a young J.P. Morgan" exclaimed one of the costumers, at the movie set of "Hidalgo. Flattered by the costumers comment, Ed smiled back, as he walked briskly to the active set dressed as a Gay 90's spectator at Buffalow Bill's Wild West Show.. Inside... it got his attention, a back in the head intuition, that wouldn't go away?
A few months later... while working on the set of "Deadwood", playing 'a prospector'... the same feeling came over him again? Both movies would serve as a clue, a hidden intuitive clue that grew stronger, and was staring at him in the face... but what was it? As before... Ed needed to follow his feelings, and he began to research his background?
Though he's done historical research before... this was much different. Moch took the direction of going to additional professionals that could verify with out shadow of dought?
Going through many a legit and questionable genealogical family tree information... and the personal family stories from memory... he turn to an old friend whom he have not been in contact for over 30 years,
Professor Lloyd Ultan, of The Bronx County Historical Society in New York City.

Thirty years can be a lot, when it comes to history... and many a factoid and truisms could mean much or nothing at all. Fortunately... the gap of being out of commuication with Prof. Ultan, would be a shared revelation by both men... in respect to one another, and with lost and found history per se.

The Bronx County Historical Society over the years has grown from a local historical group, to a renown source of archival information... and Professor Ultan's skill as a historian is as well. Because if his love of 'Real Historical Trivia' and critical historical issues... Professor Ultan today is recognized as a living retainer of Historical knowledge, and an 'Official Historian', for The City of New York... to say the least!

Moch's phone call was a pleasant surprise, and re-connected these lost years. When Moch explained, what he has been involved with, Prof. Ultan requested original documents and/or copies verifiying his historic research. A week later... a parcal of documents were waiting for him in his office. Impressed by what Moch had gathered over the years... a short positive call the following week on the phone was well received.

Time was now to really go to work. The telling/re-telling of historical, or family stories can be interesting... but verification was to be need in such research. Moch remembred as a young teenager... being taken to Long Islands, 'Sagamore Hill'. The Estate of
U.S. President Teodore Roosevelt. While on the porch of one of the side homes called "Old Orchard", his Father, Stanley Moch, told him about "A Related Friend in The Family". The comment was like a passing comment... but he would remember years later. The person in question was, Major General Theodore Roovelt Jr.(III).
