About Myself

As this is a personal homepage, I suppose people might want to know who I am! I'm not very good at this sort of thing, so if its a bit stilted, sorry!
First off, my name is Aeron McCarthy, and I'm 21 (22 in November), and a student. I live in Scotland, though my family are originally from Ireland (hence the surname). Before I get people saying how much they like Scottish accents, let me say I don't actually have one. I grew up in England, and so I have an English accent, without much of a regional accent. I'm from the North of England - an area of the world I'm proud of - but I spent a lot of time in London, and so my accent dissolved away.
I'm not married, no boyfriend at the moment, and I'm quite happy about that :) I spend a lot of time on the Internet, visiting various sites, learning things, and participating in what I think is the best bit about the internet, the worldwide community it creates. In "real life" I spend a lot of time reading, mainly. I love reading science fiction and fantasy books - my favourite book is The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien, and its been my favourite book since I was a child. Aside from that I'm fond of David Eddings, Tad Williams, Arthur C Clarke and John Wyndham. I've also been known to read girly trash novels, which I do find quite diverting, don't need a lot of thought, and are good bedtime or plane reading. I do read more serious books though, on religion, and politics in particular.
When I was at school, my favourite subject above all others was Physics, but unfortunately, though I loved it, I wasn't terribly good at it. That is, I was ok at the bits I liked, which, since I stopped learning physics at 16, was the laws of motion and cosmology, but I was incredibly bad at things like electronics & electricity. Hopefully, one day I'll take it up again, but thats probably going to be some time in the future.
I'm a bit too much of an avid fan of TV too. I'm keen on the Simpsons and Star Trek, as well as Have I Got News For You (a comedy political gameshow) and Graham Norton (camp comedian). My favourite recreation would probably be going out to bars and pubs! I go mostly to talk with friends, some of whom (fortunately) get a bit tipsy at the same rate as me, so when I'm talking rubbish, they don't notice!
Thats really all I can think of to tell you, I hope you like the site, and that you sign the guestbook!
