Sanguis Vitae
This poem was written for a short story I'm writing. Its written from the point of view of a vampire. "Sanguis vitae" is Latin for "blood of life".
I sing a dream of blood,
Of dancing in the cold moonlight,
Of the sweet taste of sanguis vitae
Warm on my lips...
I sing of a chalice,
Shining pale in the moonlight,
And of the drop, drop, drop,
Of my blood of life from its brim...
I sing of diamond eyes
And bubbling desire
And the creamfilled softness
Of a living throat...
I sing of the wine of your life
Beautiful on your skin
And of making you mine
In a way no other can understand...
I sing of my blood-brimmed life,
Of unsated desire,
And joyous communion
With you, my slave and ruler...
But most of all,
I sing of sanguis vitae
My blood of life.
