Christmas Sweets
These are great for children to make - but not unattended, in case they burn themselves, or eat all of the ingredients!
Ingredients
250g block of marzipan
100g block of chocolate (IMO, don't use cooking chocolate as it tastes horrible)
Those small paper case things (optional)
Instructions
I'm sure you can guess these!
Cut the marzipan into 16 squares and roll each into a ball.
Break the chocolate into its squares, put it in a bowl. You can put some butter in there if you want. Put the bowl on top of a pan of water, and heat till the chocolate melts.
Dip the marzipan balls into the chocolate.
Make your kids leave the sweets in the fridge until the chocolate has set! Then eat.
Dates
And on a similar line, you can do things with dates in a similar manner. I learnt this in primary school - I think it was in a Roman cookery lesson(!) Kids can make these by themselves, as no heat or sharp knives or anything is involved.
Ingredients
As many dates as you like (depending on how fond you are of them).
Some almonds.
Golden syrup or marzipan (or both)
Instructions
Take out the stone in the dates (is it a stone? I haven't done this for ages!) and put some almonds where it was.
Either cover the dates in golden syrup, or roll them in marzipan.
Eat! This is a good way of using up those boxes of dates you buy at Christmas.
