Trifle
This is a really easy, quick trifle to make.
Ingredients
Custard:
15g custard powder
15g sugar
250mls milk
4 Lyons sponge cakes (or similar)
1 13oz tin of fruit
1 tablespoon of sherry (optional)
1 small carton of whipping cream
Grated chocolate or a Flake-type thing for decoration
Instructions
- Crumble sponge cake into serving dish (or you can leave it intact)
- Separate fruit from juice
- Pour enough juice over the sponge cake to thoroughly moisten it.
- Add sherry and miz in well. Spread evenly in dish.
- Place the fruit on top of the cake mixture.
- Make the custard up (see banana custard if you don't know how)
- Pour the custard over the fruit and leave until quite cold
- Whisk the cream, being careful not to make it too stiff.
- Spread the cream over the custard and decorate it with a fork.
- Sprinkle flakes of chocolate over the cream (you can use nuts as well as/instead of chocolate, if you want)
