Vedres Csaba, the founder and leading musician of Townscream is one of the world's best piano players referring to professional opinions. He is a known and appreciated artist in twenty-five countries. Vedres has completed his studies in composing at the University of Musical Arts under the leadership of Kocsár Miklós. From the autumn of 1986, until the summer of 1994 he is the leader of After Crying.

The Ars Poetica of Vedres Csaba: "My major musical aim is to compose modern pieces that are valuables with a classical attitude as well, and are not unlistenables separately. I do not believe in the inhuman and cold spirit of the so-called modern music. In my opinion, at some ages of music's history, high music becomes over purified and estranged by intellectuals and the professional composers. Music has always been made powerful over and over again, by the native initiatives coming from below. In our age I see this opportunity in rock music. I think it is possible to create everlasting, by concurring the energetic rhythms of rock and the wonderful traditions of classical music."

Vedres Csaba, Ács Péter, Baross Gábor, Gál Béla *

In 1994 - after leaving After Crying - he gave concerts as in solo as accompanied with several formations. In the December of 1995 Vedres has founded his brand new music group Townscream, with the appearance of Ács Péter (bass guitar), Baross Gábor (drums, percussion) and Gál Béla (cello, synthesiser). After an almost one year period of preparing, they have performed for the first time in the front of the public. In 1997 they have recorded and published their debut CD: "NAGYVÁROSI IKONOKBIG CITY ICONS". The album introduces us into the spirit of a big city, and compares that to the spirits of the countryside's villages and forests. They are doing that with the characteristic tools of progressive music, that builds a bridge over the wide scale of musical directions, from classical music, through jazz, boogie, rock, until the Christian melodies and meditation music. Listening to the poems of Egervári Gábor the album forms an integral whole therefore it is impossible to highlight any part of it.

"When I used to create this album, My aim has been to reach people to open towards each other and to allow them to find consolidation in it. Nowadays, everything forces you - from computer games and television until the internet - to create your own world, because maybe than you will find five minutes of rest. I want to move people from this situation with a consolidated sound" - stated Vedres Csaba about Townscream's debut album. Beside giving concerts with Townscream, Vedres gives solo concerts also. More of his solo albums are in preparation.

Nowadays Townscream has a fifth member on concerts. Gyermán Judit plays violin. In their last concert, that I have seen on the 28th of November 1998 at the "Lágymányosi Közösségi Ház", they have performed almost only new songs, and their music has changed a bit, it has become more eclectic. They are playing more Gregorian and Christian songs (all in Latin) with a very strong rhythm based background. These songs includes more individual solo pieces from each of the musicians. They have performed many new songs in the typical jazzy-Vedres style as well, set to the poems of Egervári Gábor. In the case of these songs the language is mostly Hungarian, although Vedres has mentioned that the Engilsh translations are in preparation. They have played some new instrumental tracks as well.
