[PAGE 1, PANEL 1] Inside Apollo and Midnighter's modest bungalow in Santa Fe. In the foreground, Apollo is picking up Baby Jenny from her toy-strewn spot on the living room floor. There are Disney-esque dolls including Pinocchio. In the background, we see the back of Midnighter as he slaves over the stove (browning some meat in a cast iron pan, if you need to know). He's in full costume, except with a leather apron instead of a coat. APOLLO: Time for walkies, Baby J! [PAGE 1, PANEL 2] Closer view: Apollo is in the kitchen, holding Baby Jenny, standing behind Midnighter. Midnighter, still at the stove, twists around to accept a kiss from Apollo. APOLLO: What's for supper, Midnighter? MIDNIGHTER: The Midnighter Special for today is steak and kidney pie - [PAGE 1, PANEL 3] Close up: Midnighter gives a delighted Baby Jenny the ol' kitchy koo. The scene is unbearably adorable. MIDNIGHTER (extreme doting dad mode): - with smashed potatoes! [PAGE 1, PANEL 4] Our view is from just above Apollo. Background: Midnighter is in the back yard, just outside the patio doors leading to the kitchen, waving goodbye. Foreground: Apollo takes off, holding Baby Jenny. MIDNIGHTER: Supper's at 6. SHARP.And don't leave the stratosphere! [PAGE 1, PANEL 5] Same angle, but Apollo has flown higher, so Midnighter appears smaller. Along with Apollo, we watch Midnighter go back into the house. APOLLO: Okay, Jen, he can't hear us now. Page 2 SPLASH [PAGE 2, SPLASH] Beautiful space-scape, Earth receding. Apollo holds Baby Jenny. She looks around in awe. In space, everyone talks with radio telepathy balloons. APOLLO: Where would you REALLY like to go today? Page 3 [PAGE 3, PANEL 1] Apollo holds Baby Jenny so they can have a conversation. BABY JENNY (excited): Mercury! APOLLO (looking skyward as if he's trying hard to remember something): Mercury - I think we've been there. [PAGE 3, PANEL 2] Humourous flashback panel of Apollo and Baby Jenny shielding themselves from flames shooting from the mouths of the silvery, globular inhabitants of Mercury (they have skinny arms and legs though). APOLLO (voice over): Remember the hot-headed Mercurial people who told flaming lies? We didn't like them very much. [PAGE 3, PANEL 3] Close up of Baby Jenny, straight on. BABY JENNY (a look that says, "I forgot how scary that was!"). [PAGE 3, PANEL 4] Apollo holds Baby Jenny so they can have a conversation. BABY JENNY (inspired): Venus! APOLLO (looking up in mock wistfulness): Ah, Princess Love-Love! [PAGE 3, PANEL 5] Humourous flashback panel of Apollo clutching Baby Jenny to his chest as he runs the hell away from an amourous fairy-tale princess in a pink fairy-tale princess dress and a pink fairy-tale princess hat, the pointy kind with a sheer pink kerchief fluttering from the top. APOLLO (voice over): She wanted to be your mommy! [PAGE 3, PANEL 6] Close up of Baby Jenny, straight on. BABY JENNY (a look that says, "That no-good, delusional bitch!"). [PAGE 3, PANEL 7] Apollo holds Baby Jenny so they can have a conversation. BABY JENNY (uncertain): The moon? APOLLO: That's not a bad idea - [PAGE 3, PANEL 8] Humourous flashback panel of Apollo and Baby Jenny recoiling at the monumentally bad breath of a man whose head appears to be made of a wheel of blue stilton cheese and whose suit appears to be made of cheap polyester. He is shaking Apollo's hand. Baby Jenny's holding her nose. Apollo's hands are full, so he's scrunching his face. APOLLO (voice over): - but doesn't the Stinkin' Cheeseman live there? [PAGE 3, PANEL 9] Apollo cradles Baby Jenny BABY JENNY (looking dejected). APOLLO: I know! Let's start at the other end of the solar system! We've never been to Pluto! Page 4 [PAGE 4, PANELS 1, 2, 3] These panels work on two levels. The foreground reads as one panel, with Apollo flying across space and Baby Jenny riding piggyback. The lyrics he sings can be distributed over the panels to show where he's flown. In the background, planets are bunched up the panels he passes: (1) Earth & Moon; (2) Mars & Venus (3) Saturn and Jupiter, or some such arrangement. Baby Jenny's word balloon appears in panel 3. APOLLO (sings; he has a rather good singing voice, bass-baritone, I should think): When you wish upon a star - makes no difference who you are - when you wish upon a star - your dreams - come - true - BABY JENNY (a look that says "I'm queen of the universe! I never wanna grow up!") PLUTO! [PAGE 4, PANEL 4] Deep space. Apollo has stopped flying. He's looking for something that's gone missing. Baby Jenny floats nearby. She mimics her adoptive father's expression of consternation. APOLLO: Pluto is supposed to be right here. Where did it go? [PAGE 4, PANEL 5] Baby Jenny and Apollo face away from us. Baby Jenny points to an incoming object. Faintly in the space between Baby Jenny and Apollo's heads, we can make out a hairless yellow dog. BABY JENNY: Look, daddy! A doggie!
