Suzette's, " Baby Jenny Takes a Quantum Leap."

[PAGE 9, PANEL 1]

Long view. We see the distance Baby Jenny traverses. Pluto Dog is nearly off-panel, amazed at the feat.

[PAGE 9, PANEL 2]

Close up of Baby Jenny's pyjammie-footed foot as it just about touches the orb of light in Apollo's hand.

[PAGE 9, PANEL 3]

Long view. There is a huge flash of light where the planet was. Apollo is hunched over, shielding Baby Jenny. Pluto Dog's head is averted because it's just too damn bright to look at. SOUND EFFECT: BAM!

Page 10

[PAGE 10, PANEL 1]

Apollo and Baby Jenny congratulate each other with big hugs and smiles. Pluto Dog comes running over.

PLUTO DOG: You did it, supreme sapiens, you did it!

[PAGE 10, PANEL 2]

Pluto Dog licks Baby Jenny's face to her delight, Apollo scratches Pluto DogÕs head.

APOLLO: We couldn't have done it without you, Pluto Dog!

BABY JENNY: Good doggie!

[PAGE 10, PANEL 3]

Pluto Dog looks princely in the foreground. Behind him, an entourage of happy similar-looking doggies come flying from the planet to greet their saviours.

PLUTO DOG: Magnanimous mortals, we would be honoured if you would break biscuits and share chew toys with us.

[PAGE 10, PANEL 4]

Apollo looks worried about the time. Baby Jenny is standing off to the side, arms crossed, giving Pluto Dog a serious look.

APOLLO: Can we take a rain check? I'm afraid we're running late.

BABY JENNY (sternly, mimicking the Midnighter when he's mad): Other daddy's WAITING.

[PAGE 10, PANEL 5]

Pluto Dog and his grateful entourage watch and wave as Apollo and Baby Jenny fly off. The happy humans wave back.

PLUTO DOG: Then we shall detain you no longer. DOGSPEED!

PAGE 11, PANEL 1]

Midnighter in the dining room. He's in uniform and mask, no coat or apron. He has set an elaborate table, his and Apollo's settings are on either side of the table, Baby Jenny's high chair is at the end. There are candles at each place setting (Baby Jenny's candle is on the dining room table and not her tray). Midnighter's candle is already lit and he is lighting Apollo's. In the background of the dining room, the Kate Bush album Lionheart, in its original vinyl format, is playing on the turntable. There are patio doors directly behind Midnighter, effectively splitting each panel in two. The sky outside is getting dusky.

MIDNIGHTER (singing, not very well, like Trent Reznor on "Hurt"): "- second star on the right -"

[PAGE 11, PANEL 2]

Same view. He lights Baby Jenny's candle. Through the patio doors, we see Apollo, holding Baby Jenny, flying in for a rushed landing. Midnighter is oblivious.

MIDNIGHTER (singing, not very well): " - sttraight on til morning -"

[PAGE 11, PANEL 3]

Midnighter stands back to admire his handiwork. Outside the patio doors, Apollo is fixing his and Baby Jenny's hair so it doesn't look like they just flew in from across the solar system.

MIDNIGHTER: There! All we need now is -

[PAGE 11, PANEL 4]

Apollo enters through the patio doors nonchalantly. Baby Jenny has run ahead and gets a big hug from the Midnighter, who crouches to receive her.

MIDNIGHTER (again with the googly dad expression): Baby Jenny and Apollo!

Page 12

[PAGE 12, PANEL 1]

Midnighter stands with Baby Jenny in his arms. Apollo hangs back a bit.

MIDNIGHTER (checking her diaper): So, where'd you go? Did you see anything exciting?

[PAGE 12, PANEL 2]

BABY JENNY (excited): PLUTO!

[PAGE 12, PANEL 3]

Same view. Midnighter looks sharply at Apollo.

MIDNIGHTER (suspicious): Eh? APOLLO (looking at his fingernails in that "I'm trying to be casual while I tell a bold-faced lie" kind of way): Oh, we went to the park and there was a lost dog named Pluto that we returned home.

[PAGE 12, PANEL 4]

Midnighter, holding a giggling Baby Jenny way over his head.

MIDNIGHTER: All the way to the park! We better get you some supper then off to bed.

[PAGE 12, PANEL 5]

Head and shoulders shot, from behind. The family turns to go to the dining room, which is off panel to the left. Apollo is to Midnighter's right. His arm is around the Midnighter's shoulders. Midnighter is looking pretty much straight ahead of himself, so we only see the back of his head. Baby Jenny is hanging over Midnighter's right shoulder, winking at Apollo. If you want to be cheeky, you can give her a raggedy stuffed toy that looks like the Disney Pluto character. Apollo is in profile, winking back.

MIDNIGHTER: You must be soooo tired!

APOLLO (winking): Yes, we are - DOG tired!
