Aichi AJETs
Calendar of Events
Part of the reason AJET exists is to initiate and publicise events and activities that enrich the JET experience. Big statement, so what does it mean? Well, there are different kinds of things AJET tries to organise and or support, such as:

- cultural learning events, like rice planting and harvesting with local farmers, or pottery workshops in traditional ceramic towns, or making udon, soba and mochi, or fishing with your bare hands! These are events that individual JETs may not be aware of or have access to in their particular situations.

- cultural festivals and events, like regional matsuri (festivals). Festivals are really big in Japan and cover everything imaginable: flowers, kites, nudity, fireworks, devils, ghosts, phallus, fishing... There are also many seasonal events, such as comorant fishing and Obon, which is actually an unofficial national holiday.

- social events, to keep the JET Community connected. Your fellow JETs are your biggest and perhaps most important resource in Japan. They speak your language, come from similar cultural, educational and social backgrounds as you and are experiencing the same day to day accomplishments and struggles in the same kinds of jobs.
So, parties, nights out in Nagoya, ULTIMATE Frisbee camping, skiing, going to amusement parks and sports events like soccer and sumo, stargazing, sports days... all these things are great ways to give yourself a break, release pent up energy and stress, fight homesickness, isolation and fatigue, get to know some new and interesting people.... and of course, have some fun!
Coming your way......
