For as long as Galactic Library records remain reliable there have been twelve galactic languages. Therefore, any speculation about the Progenitors using a "wolfling" language, or speculation that the Galactic Languages are ultimately direct derivations from a Progenitor wolfling language must remain in the realm of speculation. However, given the fact that all recorded wolfling languages were both imprecise and error prone it is MOST unlikely that the Progenitors would have relied on a spontaneously developed language through more than the very earliest period of their history.
Unlike Terragen languages, Galactic languages do not support many tropes --most notably metaphor does not occur in Galactic usage. Galactic languages also have little room for fuzzy concepts such as "good/bad" or "few/many." (However Galactic languages have no bar to relative concepts such as "more/less" or "insufficient/sufficient".) In addition, Galactic Languages include much more redundancy than any extant Terragen language, allowing for high quality error correction and reliable transmission of linguistically encoded data. Furthermore, Galactic Languages designed so that logical errors, such as assuming the consequent, are immediately obvious to listeners.
The records and opinions of the Fellows of the Galactic Institute of Civilized Warfare all indicate that the major cause of war in Galactic history is miscommunication. Therefore, the Inter-species Academy for Sophont Languages and Communication maintain the twelve O-2 Galactic Languages, authorize dialectical variations necessitated by candidate species physiology, and cooperate with the Galactic Uplift Institute in establishing and maintaining uplift standards that optimize the capacity of new members joining O-2 Civilization to reliably and productively use a subset of the twelve languages.
Thus, language reliability, precision, and stability are pillars of prosperity, peace, and social stability in the Four Galaxies. The corrosive influence of undisciplined Terragen wolfling languages is thus a potential long-term threat to what passes for "mutual intelligibility" in O-2 Civilization. Lesh and Brothers-of-the-Night barely manage to understand each other now --what would happen if both began to resort to "fuzzy logic" and metaphors?
