Forever~ chapter 19 Everyone sat in almost complete silence for what seemed like forever. Even when kevin came back, no one even really asked him how the 'press conference' went. After about 2 hours the door finally opened and a nurse walked in with a smile on her face. "Mr. Littrell's surgery went fantastically." Everyone breathed a quick sigh of relief. "They are preparing to take him to a room, but he's still sleeping. When they get him settled in, you can go see him." She looked at Jessica, recognizing her from the night before when she and Brian had been saying good night. "You're supposed to be in there when he wakes up, aren't you?" "Yes, ma'am," she answered eagerly. "I'll be back soon to take you to him room." "I just thought of something guys," Jessica began after the nurse had left the room. "Where are we gonna stay while Bri's in the hospital?" "Already took care of it," Kevin said with a smile. "After I answered the press questions, I called our hotel and arranged for us to stay as long as we need to." "Um... Kev, I already asked the others about this, but I wanna ask you, too," Jessica began. "Would it be okay for me to invite my bestfriend up here? I mean, she's always wanted to meet you guys and she could keep me sane... and maybe even keep Nick company," she amiled devilishly. "Call her right now," Nick said as he handed her a phone. "I think that would be great," Kevin said with a smile. Jessica smiled as she dialed Vanessa's number. She needed no convincing in order to come. They talked for a minute and then agreed that Vanessa would page Jessica as soon as she made arrangements with the airlines. As soon as Jessica hung up the phone, the nurse reentered the room. "Are you ready, Ms. Simpson?" she asked with a smile. "Yes, I'm coming," she said before turning to Nick. "When Vanessa beeps me, call her and write down the arrangements for her flight." "Sure thing," he said with a smile. "Tell Brian we said 'hi' and we love him." Jessica nodded as she followed the nurse to Brian's room. When Brian opened his eyes and saw Jessica sitting beside him, he gave her the biggest smile he could manage. She leaned down and he kissed her with every ounce of strength that he had left. "Easy," she warned. "You need to rest. We'll have plenty of time for that when we get home." "Do you always have to be so protective?" he asked with a smile. He was just glad to be alive. "Not always," she said as she gave him a warm kiss. "Sorry to change the subject, but do you know if my parents are coming?" Jessica thought hard and she vaguely remembered AJ talking to Howie about it as she drifted off to sleep. Suddenly the details came back to her. "Yeah, AJ said that their plane was getting in this morning, and that they were taking a cab over here." She put her hand to his face and stroked him cheek and she saw the tenderness in his eyes. "I can't wait for you to meet Mom. She's gonna love you; Dad, too." He took her hand from his face and held it tightly. Jessica moved to sit beside him on the bed. She fell in love with him all over again as his lips pressed against hers. He ran his hands through her long soft hair as he kissed her passionately. He was intoxicated by her; he couldn't get enough of her. He couldn't hold her close enough; he longed for them to be as one.
