Forever~ Chapter 2 "Hi, Kev. What are you doing here?" Brian tried to wipe his tears away. "I was looking for you and I thought you'd probably be up here," Kevin said as he sat down next to him. "Kevin, it's been a whole year; why can't I move on? Everyone said the pain would go away but it hasn't." "I never does," Kevin sighed, thinking of his father who he had lost to cancer 5 years before. "The pain dulls so you can't feel it so much but it never goes away. But I don't think that's your problem. You're scared that if you move on you'll forget about Heather. That's not true and I think deep down you know that. It's been a year and it's not healthy for you to keep living in the past." "But, Kev, I-," Brian began but Kevin cut him off. "No 'buts', cuz." Kevin slapped his cousin playfully on the back. "Now c'mon. We've gotta go meet with a potential opening act. We're already running late; I told the guys that we'd meet them there." Brian said silent goodbyes to Heather before climbing in his car to follow Kevin to the recording studio. They the elevator in silence until they stepped off on the 3rd floor to meet up with Howie, Nick, and AJ. "What's wrong with Frick?" Nick whispered to Kevin as they walked towards the studio. AJ and Howie listened for his answer as Brian walked on ahead. "Heather," Kevin said softly and he needed not explain anymore. Everyone understood exactly what was going on with Brian. They followed him at a distance into the studio. All five of them took their seats in the studio to listen in on the recording session of a potential opening act. "Her name's Jessica Simpson," Nick whispered as they waited for her to appear on the other side of the soundproof glass. "And I've heard that she's absolutely gorgeous." Brian barely paid any attention to anything going on around him. Even when Jessica appeared and the guys began to drool over her, he didn't even give her a glance. He mechanically put on the headphones to listen to her sing. When he heard her voice, his head snapped up and he found himself looking at the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. 'And what a voice!' he thought as he looked over her long blond hair, athletic body, and green eyes. 'She looks like Heather,' he finally let himself admit. 'Only... better.' As soon as he thought it, he wanted to crawl under a rock. He felt so guilt for even comparing another girl to Heather, let alone admitting that someone else was prettier. He put his head in his hands and couldn't bring himself to look up until she was done singing. "I vote for her guys," Kevin announced when she was done. "Yeah," AJ echoed. "She's the best by far." "Not to mention, she's beautiful," Nick added. Brian looked around the room and saw that all eyes were on him. "Bri, what do you say?" Howie asked.
