Forever~ Chapter 23

Jessica glanced down at her watch and realized that she had lost track of time. AJ and Howie would be back from the airport with Brian and Kevin in less then 2 and a half hours and nothing was ready! Jessica ran outside and grabbed Nick and Vanessa to help her clean the house. They managed to finish it in a little more than an hour. 'Now for supper,' Jessica thought as she trekked to the kitchen followed by Vanessa

"Don't you think we've got enough food already?" Vanessa asked as Jessica began getting out the ingredients for a cake. "We've cooked for over an hour. We've got enough to feed an army."

"But we're not feeding an army; we're feeding the Backstreet Boys," Jessica said with a tired grin. Vanessa looked at her compassionately, knowing that her friend was about to break down. She crossed the kitchen and wrapped Jessica up in a hug.

"It'll be okay," Vanessa whispered as Jessica began to cry. "You two will work it out; you have to. It's almost over. Just hold on a little longer and it'll all be over." Jessica cried a little longer and then pulled back, brushing the tears from her face, obviously ashamed that she had broken down when she had been the strong one all along.

"You go ahead and make sure that Nick hasn't destroyed the living room already and I'll make this cake," Jessica insisted. Knowing that she would never win the argument, Vanessa agreed and left the kitchen. Jessica had just begun mixing the ingredients when she heard the front door open. She checked her hair in the microwave glass and then ran into the living room.

"Brian," she squealed with delight as she ran to him. Everyone laughed as she wrapped her arms around him.

"I'm not Brian; I'm Brian's alter-ego B-Rok," he said, trying to keep a straight face, knowing very well that she hated that nickname.

"B-Rok?" Jessica played along as she looked at him skeptically.

"Yeah. I'll 'B-Rokin' your world." Everyone groaned as he picked her up and swung her around.

"Are you sure you're not Brian because that sounds like one of his corny jokes." Jessica looked at him innocently.

"Hey," he warned as he pulled her into a sweet kiss. She took his hand and pulled him into the kitchen.

"Where're we going?" he asked.

"I need to finish your cake before supper."

"All I want to do is kiss you," he whispered softly. Her heart skipped a beat. This was how it was supposed to be. She allowed him a short kiss before breaking it up by putting flour on the end of his nose. He retaliated by doing the same to her. A few minutes later, everyone in the living room noticed powdery white clouds coming from the kitchen. Seconds later, Brian and Jessica burst out of the kitchen door, covered in flour but laughing hysterically.

"The kitchen's a little messy," Jessica said, causing Brian to laugh even harder.

"Well, let's eat before everything gets cold," AJ insisted. Everyone followed his lead by carrying the food to the dining room where they all sat down to eat.

"It's good to have you back, Frick," Nick said while they were eating. "We all missed, especially Jess."

"I know," Brian replied. "But we're gonna take care of that after supper aren't we, honey?" He smiled devilishly.

"Brian Li-" she started to scold, but was cut off by a kiss.

"We're all going clubbing tonight," Howie said with a big wink. "Aren't we guys?" All the others nodded except Nick who looked confused.

"I was thinking about staying here and pl-" He was cut off when Vanessa elbowed him in the ribs.

"They want to be alone, " she whispered loudly.

"Oh," he replied. "Sorry, Frick."

"That's okay, Nicky. We'll just blame your dumb moment on your hair color as usual." Brian smiled as he looked at his friend's short blond locks. By the time Nick actually caught on, everyone was already doubled over laughing at him.

"That's enough," Kevin said when he finally caught his breath. "I guess we'd better go."

"Okay," AJ agreed as everyone headed for their cars.

"Don't touch the kitchen," Vanessa warned Jessica. "I'll clean it up when I get back. Better yet, I'll have Nick do it."

As soon as they were gone, Jessica pulled Brian into a sensual kiss. She had never been happier in her life than she was at that moment. "I love you," she whispered as she continued to shower him with kisses. Instead of returning the sentiment, Brian pulled back.

"Jess, we need to talk," he whispered. A million thoughts raced through her mind and none of them were good. She took a deep breath: was this really the end?
