| Forever~ Chapter 4 "Nothing. What's wrong with you?" he asked, trying to hide how he really felt. "That's not fair. I asked you first." She paused for a moment and studied him. "I guess I can tell you. For some reason I just feel like you would understand even though I know you the least out of all the guys. I actually trust you." 'That's because we're soulmates!' he wanted to yell. Instead he watched her saddened face as she continued. "My boyfriend just broke up with me because he thinks that me and Nick have something going on." "You like Nick," Brian asked casually. "No," jessica replied dryly. "Not as anything more than a friend, honest." Brian smiled at the conviction with which she spoke. "Anyway," she went on. "Your turn. Please tell me what's going on with you. I'm starting to get worried about you." "Jess, I don't think you wanna get involved in this. It's really complicated." He was trying to keep his mouth shut but everything was getting ready to come out. "Brian, please," she pleaded, ignoring the angry look forming on his face. "Tell me." "Fine," he said irritably. "You think you know what pain is? You think breaking up with your boyfriend hurts? You have no clue. My girlfriend died a year ago; the only woman I've ever loved. So don't tell me about pain." Though he had snapped at her, he had still managed to conceal what he had found out about her. he looked at her shocked face and realized that he had been wrong to yell at her. "Jessica, I'm sorry," he whispered. "I didn't mean to yell at you. All this has just been building up and-" she put a finger up to his lips. "Don't say anything else. I'm sorry, Brian. I didn't know. I'm so sorry." She slowly worked up enough courage to put her hand to his face. Brian didn't resist so she beganto play with his curly blond hair. Surprisingly, he began to smile. "What are you smiling at?" she asked playfully. "I can't help it." Brian realized he was speaking the truth. She seemed to know just how to make him feel better. "You make me smile. That's something I haven't done in a long time." "You should do it more often. You look twice as handsome when you're not frowning.." She looked into his blue eyes. She wanted him to kiss her, but it didn't feel right; not after what he had just told her. She was about to say something when she heard the front door close. "I'd better go, Brian," Jessica said as she rose to leave. "Good luck with your boyfriend." Brian hated to see her go, but now wasn't the time to tell her the whole story. He was so confused. "Thanks, Bri. I'll see you in the morning." Jessica sighed as she walked out of the room. She was falling for him, but apparently the feeling wasn't mutual. 'Why can't I like AJ or Nick?' she asked herself as she lay awake that night. 'At least someone that I could actually have. Why do I have to like Brian when he's so unattainable? What does he have that AJ and Nick don't have?' She sighed as she rolled over to fall asleep. She answered her own question. 'My heart.' Home Chapter 5 Index of Chapters Fan Fiction Index |
