The Trevi Fountain, a monument to the greatness of ancient Rome's aqueducts. It was built in the 17-18th centuries, I think. Below left is an exhausted me standing in front of the fountain (I had been awake for at least 30 hours when this picture was taken). Below right is our tour guide Claudio, who is pointing to the building behind the lightpost, which now stands where once there was a theater in which Julius Caesar was assassinated. |

The Pantheon, only ancient Roman ruin I made it to. It was a temple until Rome was Christianized, then it was converted into a church. A few popes are buried inside the remarkably preserved interior (mainly due to the fact that it is a church after all), which is pictured below. |
