Spark

this is about a girl
it's a love poem that's not about sex
this is about a girl i love
there are some things i want to tell her

when people look on her
they don't wait to see
anything out of the ordinary
it's scary that they throw her back

this treatment tends to confuse
it should be hard to walk on by
there's someting there that they don't see
they can't see it, they don't try

her beauty seems to be instinctive
dark eyes are wrong but they seem classic
she deserves my full attention
intimacy lies drawn in the sand

there are places she belongs
she's in my bed but not my head
we took a chance on forever
our chance plays out for granted

we're not allowed possession
of other peoples' souls
even ours aren't certain maybe
we don't deal in gold

are we heroes when no one knows it?
when they just pass us by
we could save them in an instant
how does it count when nothing happens

you're like a spark
that goes unnoticed
you make me jump when i look at you
if they never see you will you die?
