[And now, just to torture all my dear readers, here is a chapter
devoted to the missing part of the story our beloved Vejiita's so
curious about. {Would this count as a morbid curiosity, I wonder...?}
This chapter of my nameless Alternate Universe story is also dedicated
to Nezumichan for constantly enforcing that Vejiita and Katera make a good
couple. '--not like Katera and Trunks, she's like, fifty years older than
him.' Well, excuse me, Nez, but I like Trunks, and without Vejiita and
Bulma getting together he wouldn't exist, short of Vejiita having an affair!
With Katera? In mainstream ZL? I think not. But I'm getting long winded
here. On to part nine!]
[Additional note, added April 2000; In version one of DBZL Katera and
Trunks ended up in a relationship. However, I'm having trouble foreseeing
that in version two. So it may or may not actually happen.]
Sarro could feel Vejiita's eyes boring holes into her. It was making
her uncomfortable. The coffee table she could handle, but if Vejiita 'Final
Flash'ed her house she might be a little more than miffed.
Sighing she set down her teacup and gave him a look of relent. " Are you sure? " she asked kindly.
Kindness which was lost entirely on Vejiita. Gruffly he snapped back, " I wouldn't have asked otherwise, baka. "
Coming from him, 'baka' was almost a compliment.
" Okay, " Sarro said reluctantly. She looked around the room. " Min'nasan? "
[trans.=> everyone?]
There were slow, uncertain nods from everyone but Kyande. Kyande just looked mortified. True, she would be blamed for anything Vejiita didn't particularly like, but really. The girl should have been showing some more courage than that.
Sarro took a slow breath that screamed, 'You're gonna regret this, Vejiita' before launching the rewind of the story,
" It is true that I left out a major part of this recount. This was, in fact, what I was paying attention to during Gokuu's time on Kaiousei. As it was, the relationship between this timeline's Vejiita and Katera was all a matter or circumstance. "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Vejiita-Oji was displeased. Really, this sucked. There were downsides to being the strongest of his race.
The biggest downside was having no one to give him a real challenge. The Cultivars were a bore. Nappa was a bore. Anyone else was a bore. At roughly four years of age, the little prince of the Saiyajin was already experiencing a midlife crisis. He wanted Action! He wanted a Challenge! He wanted a Real Fight!
What he didn't want was this dumb meeting with his dumb father in the dumb throne room.
Pouting in only a way that a Saiyajin can, Vejiita stalked into the throne room and approached the dais his father's throne sat upon at the head of the room.
As usual the dumb soldiers stood at attention upon his passing. All of them so fearful of the little child that could easily kick all their dumb butts to Chikyuu and back. This knowledge alone was beginning to lose it's appeal.
Wait. There was something new.
Standing before and just a little to the left of the Saiyajin no oo was a young warrior about Vejiita-Oji's age, perhaps a year or two older, with arms crossed and appraising eyes on the prince.
" Vejiita, " said the king with that monotone voice he always used in addressing his son, " this is Kateraope. "
Like he cared.
The king continued, oblivious to his son's sardonic thoughts, " she's your new training partner. "
This Vejiita-Oji had some semblance of caring about. What? His what? And did the king just say 'she?'
A sardonic grin graced the Saiyajin no oo's features. " She has your powerlevel, Vejiita. "
His... what...?
Vejiita-Oji was floored. No way! He was the strongest, dammit! Him! What happened to all the legend garbage they'd been feeding him since birth?! How was this... this... girl in possession of the same power as he?
However, it was not so much, yet, that the little prince didn't lose
his cool. Smirking, he said, " We shall see, " and exited the throne room.
Kateraope slid her gaze over to the king, who nodded. Without a word or
acknowledgment of any kind, Kateraope followed Vejiita-Oji out.
Vejiita-Oji didn't stop until he reached 'his' training room. Nappa was there, awaiting his arrival. Vejiita ignored him and continued on to stop at the center of the room.
The girl entered behind him just as he turned around. The eyes of both she and Nappa flickered first recognition, then a mutual hatred beyond all words.
Oh, they knew each other. How cute.
" Alright, you, " Vejiita snapped. Nappa and what's-her-name looked at him. " Let's get this over with. "
Then what's-her-name had the audacity to speak. " My name is Katera, Vejiitaojisama. "
Vejiita felt like he'd been slapped in the face. She dared?!
He flew at her without a word, determined to pay her back for her insult. He attacked with a series of ferocious blows, then drew back a moment later in surprise as not a single one landed.
Could it be true?
Vejiita moved in a blur to behind her and aimed a powerful kick that could fell Nappa directly at her back. So quick she was a blur herself Katera spun and caught his kick at the heel.
Vejiita didn't know whether to cry out in rage or elation. It was true!
Finally, he had someone who could give him a real challenge. The only problem
was, she dared to challenge him.
Katera was bored out of her mind, and not especially pleased with her new position. Yay, she could fight someone better, and stop hiding herself from the rest of the worlds.
But on the other hand, she was having no problem warding off the prince's attacks. He didn't have an especially interesting fighting style, either.
This was the Legendary Super Saiyajin? This was the one classified as Super Elite? Somehow she felt cheated.
Suddenly Vejiita flung a seemingly desperate blow at her head, which she blocked, and he used the opportunity to punch her in the face with the other fist.
Katera staggered back under the blow. Vejiita smiled triumphantly, and, wryly, Katera found herself doing so as well. Perhaps her first assessment had been incorrect.
And prince or no, he was going to pay for that.
Even if he'd thought to, Nappa wouldn't have been able to hide the awe the fight between Vejiita-Oji and Kateraope instilled in him. It was fantastic: beyond anything he'd ever seen! This was the prince's power?!
After watching the four year old prince's power surpass his at such a young age it filled the large warrior with a sort of mixed feelings. On the one hand, he was proud that he was able to see the next generation's Super Saiyajin, on the other hand, he was insulted that a mere boy had surpassed him.
In terms of Katera, it was all insult.
Not that he wouldn't have minded, had she taken him up on his offer.
[Reference to a scene in the story One Year Alone. When Nappa first discovered Katera's secret, he *ahem* offered to remain silent if she first... ano... convinced him... (pedifile!)]
Vejiita recovered his footing after Katera sidestepped his attack and pivoted on one foot. Placing both hands in front of him, Vejiita collected his ki and blasted.
Katera appeared unscathed directly before him, not even flinching as the attack hit the far wall. " Oh, " she said, and Vejiita could feel her breath on his cheeks, " we're using energy attacks? "
" Hai, " growled Vejiita, as he threw two fists out towards her.
Katera caught the fists and then snapped her fists around so that Vejiita's hands covered hers. Vejiita looked at her in bewildered suspicion. Then Katera commanded, " Concussion! " and Vejiita fractured the wall behind him.
As Vejiita picked himself up, Katera smirked. " Perhaps you are what they say you are, Vejiitaojisama. "
Another insult! Vejiita got quickly the rest of the way to his feet and launched himself at the other warrior. Catching her with his shoulder, he threw her to the ground and then blasted numerous times.
Katera rose out of the smoke and dust, looking battered, but fine nonetheless. Vejiita was furious. His eyes went blind with rage and he attacked with a ferocious holler. No one was stronger than him! No One! In the midst of it all, Katera's knee caught him in the midriff, and Vejiita's breath caught in his throat.
" What?! " Nappa's expression darkened, " Katera, you-- "
" He wanted a sparring partner, and now he's got one, " Katera said, her voice taut, " Attempt interfering again, Nappa, and I will make your death a painful one. "
" Nappa, shut up! " Vejiita snapped, having recovered his breath. Glaring up at Katera he continued in regards to her, " and you! When the hell did you get so bloody wordy? Huh? "
Katera's face darkened in a rage so like Vejiita's it scared Nappa, and she screamed in response, " Since You Hit Me! " Katera threw herself towards Vejiita and began the fray anew.
[It's the war of the temper tantrums, I tell ya!]
" Oh, " leered Vejiita sarcastically, " someone doesn't like to get hit. Well, that's just too bad. Because I don't like it either. "
Katera smirked again. " Sumimasen, Ojisama, " came her words thick with sarcasm, " I suppose you want me to go easy on your little princeling ass and pull my punches, neh? Can't have that pretty face of yours getting marred, now can we? "
There was something about her articulateness that was really annoying Vejiita. For someone who was only about his age, she had a vocabulary larger than that of the entire Saiyajin race.
Later he'd ask her where she learned so many words. Unfortunately, it was during an argument so he never understood her answer. What the hell did she mean she paid attention to the world around her and didn't think with her hormones? Why couldn't she damn well tell him straight?
But, back to the battle at hand, Vejiita glared as Katera's insults hit home. Pull her punches? No one had to pull punches with him. Any who faced him had to fight for their life, or perish dishonorably. This... Kateraope... was no different. He just had to focus his mind, think clearly, and this opponent would fall just like all those before her.
But did he really want that? This was the first challenge he'd had in a long time, but in a rare moment of farsightedness, Vejiita wondered about after he'd defeated Katera. If he killed her, who would he have to fight with then? It would be back to the Cultivars, Nappa, and the others.
How boring!
The king had said training partner. Perhaps this one time the prince would go along with it. Sure, it would be fun.
But he'd still win this fight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Later, when the two young opponents lay on the floor panting after a hard training session, (Or a long, hard afternoon of trying to kill each other, you decide) Freezer pointed at the image of Katera on the screen and said softly,
" I would like her as well, please. "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" Storywise, " said Sarro reflectively, " the next few years are rather boring. I, myself, found them quite interesting psychologically. Watching Vejiita and Katera grow up was a rare opportunity. However, it was all filled with battle after battle, argument after argument. It seems no matter what the two of them are bound to get off to a rocky start.
" After Vejiitasei's demise, they continued their training under Freezer,
oblivious to their mentor's own hand in the destruction of
their race. Nappa stayed with them, and Radditz... " Sarro paused,
and furrowed her brow, " ... I don't know where the hell Radditz was. Probably
off gallivanting as Saiyajin do: fighting an opponent here, destroying
a planet there. He had become a ronin of sorts, keeping little to no contact
with the other survivors of his race. "
She took a careful sip of her tea, and made a face as she realized it was cold. Shrugging, she elevated her ki slightly and warmed it.
Taking another, more satisfying, sip, she continued, " Nappa was a bit more estranged; he and Vejiita never had the so-called comeradere borne of having to rely on each other for company. Instead Vejiita had Katera, and over the years they got used to each other's little quirks and personalities. "
Sarro gave Vejiita a pointed look and stated, " You see, all it takes is time, Vejiita. "
Vejiita sniffed and looked away.
Sarro smiled wryly. " There was one thing though, Katera refused to ally herself with Freezer. It was a rare moment of intelligence for her. I suppose it was her mistrustful nature, born of so many years of keeping herself secret, that drove her to it. But I found it interesting when Freezer called her on it. Up until then, she and Vejiita had almost constantly been at odds; with her constantly refusing to acknowledge his authority over her. "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Freezer stood at the window in his chambers, with his hands clasped behind his back. Behind him stood Katera, and a little behind her was Vejiita.
Silence had reigned over the room since Freezer had called her. Neither had objected when Vejiita followed Katera in.
Finally, Freezer spoke, with a slow, careful clarity that betrayed how high his displeasure rated. " Katera, it has come to my attention that you have yet to swear an oath to me. "
" Only now? " Katera repeated with an expression of mild disbelief.
" Pardon the lie, " Freezer consented, " I have been patiently awaiting it, then. Your prince, and your fellow warriors have all sworn their allegiance to me. "
" Which was their choice, " stated Katera flatly.
Freezer resisted the urge to bristle indignantly at her cold tone. "
Why, then, may I ask, have you decided against this course of
action? "
" My allegiance lies elsewhere, " came the response.
Vejiita resisted the urge to growl in irritation. He hardly understood a word exchanged between the two. One of his more recent projects to better Katera was a halfhearted attempt at bettering his vocabulary. It was slow going, and he still couldn't quite grasp what was going on.
As far as he could gather, Katera refused to pledge allegiance to Freezer. He was unaware that she hadn't. Why in blazes wasn't she?! If she pissed off Freezer then he'd kill her and Vejiita would have no one to fight with!
Vejiita scoffed inwardly. Didn't Katera think of anyone but herself?
" Oh, " Freezer turned, regarding Katera with an all-too-interested gaze, " and where might that be? I don't seem to recall you swearing any oaths. Where then, do you lie, Kateraope? "
Katera took a slow breath, then turned resolutely and dropped to one knee. Bowing her head towards an utterly bewildered Vejiita she said quietly, " I pledge my allegiance, in this sacred oath, to you, Ojisama, " looking up she growled in addition, " and no one else. "
Vejiita felt strangely pleased, like his sparring partner had just won a battle on his behalf. Smiling at Katera in his regal, noncommittal way, he said, " Good. "
Katera stood again and regarded Freezer with a level stare. " If there is nothing else, Freezersan? "
Freezersan, huh? Ooh, she was a smart little Saiyajin. How unusual.
" That is all. You may go. "
" Doomo Arigato, " said Katera, showing Freezer the same courtesy, and
holding much the same sincerity. She and Vejiita left the room, allowing
Freezer to fume in solitude.
Curiosity was something Vejiita didn't particularly like. Perhaps because
he was this way. Perhaps because it was something he
couldn't fight. Or, perhaps it was just because Vejiita was... Vejiita.
As he and Katera walked down the hall together, away from Freezer's chambers, he looked towards his sparring partner and asked, " What was that about? "
Katera kept her eyes straight ahead as she answered, " Nothing. I just
don't want to ally myself with Freezer. If you want me to,
Ojisama, I will do it. But I won't like it. "
Vejiita's grin in her direction was fairly charismatic. " Far be it for me to order you to do something you wouldn't like, Katera. "
Katera laughed once in response.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" Yes, my lord? " inquired Zarbon immediately after answering his summons. He knelt on one knee behind Freezer, with his head bowed, and his thick green braid hanging over his shoulder.
" The next time Vejiita and Katera detach from each other, I want you to fight Katera. Don't kill her, just give me an idea of her strength. Understood? "
" Yes, sir, " stated Zarbon. He stood and exited the room without further comment on either his or Freezer's behalf.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" Why wouldn't Kat ally herself with Freezer? " Gohan wanted to know.
Sarro gave him a helpless look. " I'm not a mind reader, Gohan, and she never did give her reasons clearly. I suppose part of it may have been intuition, if she has any of such: and, as I've already said, her mistrustful nature contributed to it. "
" Ah, " said Gohan. He leaned back and acquired that expression of deep thought that had been on his face since the beginning of the story.
Sarro continued...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" I'm tired, " stated Vejiita a half-day later, " I'm going to bed. "
" Hai, " came Katera's solitary answer.
Vejiita scowled at her. " Aren't you? "
" Mm? " Katera turned and looked at him, " No, I'll stay here and train on my own for awhile. You go sleep, Ojisama. I'll see you in the morning. "
" You'd better not count on sleeping in, " Vejiita warned her.
" Wouldn't dream of it, Ojisama. "
It was at this moment that Vejiita suddenly realized Katera never called him by name anymore. Always it was just 'Ojisama.' Refusing to wonder over it, and pushing the thought out of his mind, Vejiita left the room for his quarters.
Once he was gone, Katera went through the motions of several attacks.
Striking and blocking strikes invisible to all but her
imagination.
Zarbon watched her a moment, before entering the room and asking, " Why not take on an opponent that can give you a real challenge? "
Katera spun to face him, the stiff locks of her ponytail shifting subtly with the force of which she turned. She regarded Zarbon stonily. " Who might that be? "
" Myself, of course. "
Katera crossed her arms and smiled condescendingly, " and what is it that makes you want to die so, Zarbon? "
Zarbon matched her smile and responded, " I like a challenge, and I know you do. "
" Hnt. " Katera crouched into fighting stance.
Zarbon attacked after only a fractional holding of his stance. He struck at Katera, and she dodged, coming around behind him and jumping up for a blow to the back of his head. Zarbon's fist came up and met her in the face.
Katera hit the ground hard, but was soon on her feet. With an angry yell she came at him, getting him in the ribs with a stinging kick, and then punching his chest a good many times.
Zarbon swatted her away, and found to his dismay that his armor had been cracked. He was not without incredulity, however, he knew that anger could raise a Saiyajin's fighting level, but this was amazing. One hit and Katera's Sentu Ryoku had to have gone up by at least fifty points.
Mutually, they came at each other, striking and blocking with a speed that blurred their movements.
Zarbon took a reading on Katera through his scouter. She had an impressive Sentu ryoku for someone of her size. But it was still lower than his, he'd just have to work a little to prove it.
Suddenly Zarbon saw the opening that he needed, and clapped both hands over Katera's temples. She nearly dropped under the blow, but kept her feet and punched at him. Zarbon easily moved out of the way and caught her with a knife hand strike to her collarbone. He then punched Katera in the gut, smacked her across the face, and blasted her across the room. Katera got to her feet a moment later, using the dented wall behind her for support. Yelling incoherently, she threw both hands before her and shot at Zarbon with a massive ki blast.
Zarbon shielded himself from the brunt of the attack, but still felt it's effects. In the aftermath, he looked up just in time for Katera to kick in his nose.
Zarbon staggered back, both hands to his broken nose. Looking up, he growled and flung the blood from his nose off his hands. He crouched into fighting stance and glared at his opponent.
Katera then had the gall to croon, " Aw, did I break your precious face? Don't worry, Zarbon, it hasn't affected your looks a bit. " She returned to her fighting stance again, " I'd almost consider it an improval. "
Okay. Now Zarbon was angry.
" What would you know about looks, you grimy little monkey? " Zarbon snapped defensively through attacks, " It's certainly not yours that holds Vejiita's interest. "
Katera furrowed her brow. What the hell did he mean by that? In response she sneered, " It's my fighting level, you moron. "
" Sure, with all the powerlevels around here higher than yours. Why
doesn't he train with the Ginyuu Force? " Zarbon inquired
condescendingly.
Katera threw him across the room and snapped, " because the Ginyuu are all even bigger idiots than you! " She narrowed her eyes at him, " What are you getting at? "
Zarbon smiled with triumph inwardly. So, he'd made her think, good. To Katera he asked, " I'm just wondering what's going to happen once Vejiita grows tired of you. "
Katera's face darkened with insult.
Zarbon pressed, " Whatever will become of you then? Or has that already been decided? "
Katera rushed him, grabbing him by the collar of his armor she growled through clenched teeth, " You'd better come right out and say what it is you have to say, Zarbon, before I kill you. "
Zarbon flinched not at her words. Instead he called upon the rumors he'd been hearing around Freezer's ship as of late. " It's just this, Katera, a lot of us around here have been wondering why it is that the Legendary Super Saiyajin would keep someone around who's quite capable of being competition for that position. " Zarbon gave her a look of perfect innocence as Katera's expression betrayed her catching on. " You two do spend a lot of time alone together. "
Katera roared in rage and indignation. She punched Zarbon across the face and pushed off his chest, ki blasting with all her might. Zarbon made it through the ki blast and punched Katera around for a while, before catching her in the midriff with a blow that sent her flying into the wall across the room. He was there upon impact, and drove his elbow into the same place he'd punched.
Katera choked, gasping for the breath he'd driven out of her.
Zarbon placed one hand, fingers spread before her face and commented,
" How sad that I believe you and not the rumors, neh,
Katera? " before blasting her out of consciousness.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
After waking up in a regeneration tank, Katera was increasingly bothered by Zarbon's words. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and scowled at the nervous medical technicians. (Damn doctors, why couldn't they leave her clothes on when they put her in those things?)
What had Zarbon meant by that? Of course they spend a lot of time together. They were sparring partners, and two of the few surviving members of the Saiyajin race. What, did he think they were lovers?
With a start, Katera realized that her sarcastic comment was truth. Could that really be it? Were people so stupid as to believe that? Yes, she answered her own question dryly, they were.
Great. That was just great. This was just what she needed, conspiracy.
Then a steadily increasing uncomfortable thought entered her mind: of the four surviving Saiyajin... she was the only female. Which meant that, if Vejiita ever decided to produce an heir...
Katera felt sick.
[No, that is not a typo, four is correct for what Katera knows. The fifth survivor, Kakarrot, is one they don't know about yet.]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" Of course, " said Sarro, " it was a few years before Vejiita ever addressed the issue. "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Katera was in a bad mood again.
Vejiita had trouble remembering times in which she wasn't in a bloody bad mood. Normally he liked it, it made her fight him to levels neither of them knew they had. There were the ever-present rumors that this generation would produce two Super Saiyajin. That irritated Vejiita, but not so much that he didn't like having Katera around.
But she was in a bad mood again. More of one than usual. She didn't seem to want to do much but sulk. She sat across from him in the empty eating area, staring at the plate she'd emptied within seconds and not asked for seconds. Vejiita was on his fourths, and was getting steadily more irate at her lack of an appetite.
" Why aren't you eating? " he demanded finally.
Katera's jaw muscles twitched. " Not hungry, " she growled in response.
" The hell you aren't. Woman, what's the matter with you? "
She glared at him then, her eyes flashing. Vejiita felt something inside of him twinge. She hated it when he called her 'woman.'
" If it were any of your business, Ojisama, I would tell you, " she responded with a perfectly level tone. Vejiita didn't miss the warning undertoned in it.
Taking another mouthful off the meat that piled his plate, Vejiita mumbled around the food, " I'm making it my business. I hate it when you get like this, it's annoying. "
" Oh, " Katera's voice took a sardonic edge to it, " Then maybe I should just leave, Ojisama. We can't have you annoyed, now can we? "
There was something in the way she said 'you' that told him that he was the problem. What had he done? For someone who didn't like to be called 'woman' she bloody well acted like one.
" What the hell have I done now? " Vejiita snapped, refusing to let her mood ruin his appetite.
Katera looked away.
Vejiita's fist slammed into the tabletop. " Don't toy with me, Katera! " Dammit, she hadn't even flinched, " Your insubordination is going to get you killed. "
" You sound as though you are spouting rehearsed lines, Vejiita. " She got so articulate when she was in one of these moods, he hated that too; and where did she get off calling him by name? She looked back at him then, those cold, angular eyes never wavering as she openly defied him, " I don't consider it a threat any longer. "
Vejiita bristled, " and when did it cease being as such? "
Katera smiled one of those slow, sly smiles that twinged Vejiita all the more. " As soon as our Sentu Ryoku matched perfectly. "
Vejiita scowled.
Katera snorted and stood. The smile hadn't dispelled her bad mood afterall. In a low, snappish tone she informed him that she'd be in the training room and slammed the door behind her.
Vejiita sat for a fraction of a second before setting into his meal again. His mind kicked into high gear as he set it towards trying to figure out what was wrong with Katera. After a moment he wondered why he cared and pushed all thoughts of the other warrior out of his mind.
Only to find that he'd finished his meal without realizing.
It still bothered him despite all attempts at the contrary. By the time he reached the training room, her bad mood seemed to have gone down a notch or two, but it was still bothering him. That, of course, made it all the worse. How dare she get him in a bad mood and then feel better afterwards.
Katera was, in fact, in much better spirits. Lately she'd been plagued by violent mood swings, but she had adapted to it. Theoretically, she considered it to be a sign of becoming a Super Saiyajin. They were supposed to be violent, why couldn't their moods be the same?
They began to fight without a word exchanged. They'd gone past the point of goading each other on before battle. It no longer mattered. Now, they just fought each other while remaining in their own mental worlds.
Katera grabbed Vejiita's arm as a punch sailed past and pivoted on her foot, throwing him into the far wall. It crumbled around him, but he was soon on his feet. She noted with some pleasure he'd not been scratched.
But also irritation. He'd drawn first blood last time they sparred, this time she wanted it: and then some. He was going to pay for her bleeding. But they'd been going at it for close to three hours now, and neither had so much as a mark on them, but for some broken armor.
Katera sometimes wondered why they bothered with armor. Neither she nor Vejiita needed it. It was another one of those damned showy things that Nappa insisted on.
Katera ducked under Vejiita's ki blast and sped towards him. She didn't bother blurring, she preferred head on attacks. Feinting a punch to his ribs, she brought a double fist across his temple and kneed him where he thought the punch had been going. Spinning around him she kicked him in the small of the back and ki blasted him into a small crater.
Vejiita jumped out of the crater and sent Katera reeling with one punch. He was mad, good. She liked it when he got mad, he fought better. Katera blocked the next barrage of attacks, backing up and letting Vejiita think he was getting the upper hand. If there was one thing she enjoyed, it was toying with her opponents.
But, it soon became apparent, it was Vejiita who was toying with her. Suddenly his blows became more powerful, and Katera was forced to ignore playing. She furrowed her brow and looked for an opening.
Then her back hit the wall.
Shimatta, she thought, He's got me cornered.
Vejiita smiled as he too came to this conclusion and he opened his fists
to catch Katera by the wrists. Stepping forward he slammed her arms back,
cracking the wall with the impact. Katera winced despite herself. That
would hurt her later.
Vejiita kept his hands closed over Katera's wrists and felt the closeness of her body to his. His smile of triumph switched tones to one that Katera was at a loss for an adjective for.
Vejiita pressed himself close to Katera and buried his face in her neck. There would be no more fighting today.
Katera's eyes opened wide in surprise. " O-Ojisama? "
" Shhh, Katera. "
There was something in his tone of voice that Katera found herself liking in spite of herself. As Vejiita continued, she murmured, " What about Nappa? " She knew the other Saiyajin was observing their session from another room.
" He'll leave, " Vejiita answered.
Waitaminnit... Katera shifted uncomfortably beneath him.
" Ojisama... "
Vejiita pulled back slightly and gave her an inquisitive look. He sounded disappointed when he asked, " Nani? "
Katera gave him a look that would have been coy if the better adjective weren't out-of-place. " I'm just wondering if you know what you're doing. "
Vejiita's expression darkened in insult. " Of course I do. "
" Just making sure. "
Katera disengaged her arms from the wall and wrapped them around Vejiita's waist. Taking this as an invitation to continue, Vejiita pressed his lips to Katera's neck again.
Katera placed a hand on his shoulder and pushed him back slightly. " Wait, " she said softly. " I don't like this. "
Vejiita scowled regally and answered, " I could order you. "
" Ah, " Katera ran her fingers over his tail and retorted, " but while everyone else follows your orders because they have to, I follow because I choose to. " Katera grabbed his waist roughly and swung him around so that Vejiita's back was to the wall. Leaning forward she whispered in his ear, " and maybe I like things better this way. "
[You know, the sad thing is, I Hate Writing Scenes Like This!!!]
Katera nuzzled the place where Vejiita's ear, jaw, and neck met, then slowly took a step back, dragging her hands lightly over his sides, and ki blasted him into the wall.
[can we say foreplay?]
When the debris cleared, Vejiita was wiping at his bloodied face and glaring at her.
Katera smiled and tilted her head back. " First blood goes to me this time, Ojisama. " She turned and headed across the room, a knowing smile on her face. She was annoying the hell out of him by doing this, which made it all the more enjoyable.
Vejiita pushed off the wall and flew at her. Katera was prepared and turned to catch him in his attack. She used his momentum to throw him to the ground. Vejiita was ready for this and brought her down with him. They lay there for a moment, catching breath and collecting thoughts.
Touching back on the conversation, Vejiita raised himself up on his elbows and asked, " If I did order you, would you? "
Katera reached up and grabbed him by the back of the head. Bringing him down to her level she answered quietly, " Who's to say I haven't already agreed? " before kissing him.
From where he'd been observing the sparring match, Nappa smirked and walked away, leaving them alone as Vejiita had predicted.

Sarro cleared her throat uncomfortably. " I'm sure you can all use your
imaginations as to what came next. "
