The brain was made to hold a vast amount of information, many, many more times the amount that a typical person now records during a normal lifespan. It was made for infinite use and reuse. The cells making up our body are renewed on a regular basis. This process continues for many years allowing most of us to live productive lives. Then for some as yet unknown reason, the process slows down and in time stops. The result is of course death. But why the slowdown? No scientific reason has yet been found, at least that I am aware of. According to the Bible, the original intent was that our bodies were made to live forever, by replacing our worn out or dead cells continuously.
The Fountain of Youth, potions, spells, you name it people have tried to find it, or use it. Why? Because we have an deep seated desire to live forever. It is a part of all of us, only in cases of severe pain or guilt, does one look to death as a release. Normally, we all want to live. I have heard people say, "living forever would be boring." Yet, I have not seen or heard of any of those types of people welcoming death, when it came aknocking. They might say that living forever would be boring, but they want to stay among living as long as possible. I guess they aren't that BORED!
What price would you place on your life? How much would you be willing to pay for say another 50 years of life, above and beyond your expected lifespan? If you were dying, and a man came up and said he had a potion that would allow you to regenerate 80 % of your cells, thus giving you another 50 years to of life, what would it be worth to you? A hundred dollars, a million? All the money and wealth you have? Certainly it would be worth that and more to you. After all, what good would all your possessions do you in death? For most of us, the life we currently have is a very precious thing.
The Bible's comments concerning the future of planet we live on also supports the view that people were created to live forever!
Many religions teach the the literal is to be destroyed. Is this true? For those of you who view that teaching with fear I have some good news! Notice what the Bible really says about this planets future:
Isaiah 45:18 tell us: "This is what God has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the true God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited."
Psalms 37:29 says: "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it."
Psalms 104:5 says: "He had founded the earth upon it established places; it will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever."
Ps. 119:90 adds: "Your faithfulness is for generation after generation. You have solidly fixed the earth, that it may keep standing."
Ecclesiastes 1:4 says: "A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite."
The Bible teaches that the literal earth is to be here forever and that people will live forever on it. We all have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful future. John 17:3 tells us: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."
Despite our having the opportunity of living forever, we still face dangers and illness now. Wars and terrorism claim thousands of lives each year, and anyone may become a victim.
