What is the Earth's Future?

We have heard of the 'NewAge' the 'The Millennium' and the 'New World Order.' We have seen movies and read books about the future of the earth. Some tell us things will get better, others tell us that bad things await us. Which is true and which is false? Is there a little bit of truth in some of the movies and books we've seen? Many would say yes, other would say, we'll just have to wait and see.

While being overly worried about the future can be a waste of time, being totally unconcerned can be a waste of life. What is needed, is a balance between planning for the future and living day to day. If we live entirely for the future, the present will pass us by. And despite what sci-fi movies say, time travel isn't possible. So, once the present is past, it is gone forever.

So, we need to live our lives in the present, and yet, we need to give some consideration to the future. And it never hurts to remember the past, so that we not make the same mistakes again and again. Life can be so complicated.

The premise of this part of my home page is to see what mankind thinks of the future, and how it can effect us then and now. We will also look into one of the oldest books and see if there are any clues as to what the future will be. All in all, I believe you will enjoy the journey through TIME. I know, I just stated that time travel was impossible, okay, fine. Then lets pretend we can travel in time and space. Now that we have the time travel problem behind us, let's begin our journey:

  1. The first movie we will discuss is "When Worlds Collide." In this story, the Earth is doomed to destruction by the moon of a planet entering our solar system. While the incoming planet will not cause any real problems, it's moon will impact on the earth. With the slight hope of the new planet being hospital to life, a group of people build a space ship. Just before the moon impacts the earth, this rocked ship takes off with a handful of people. It is inferred that other ships may have been built an launched, but in the end most of mankind perishes with the earth.

    The ship does reach the new planet (which has attained solar orbit I would suppose) and the survivors disembark. The Planet is a paradise and the human family gets a new start on a pollution free planet. A Happy Ending!!!

  2. Our second movie is entitled "The Forbidden Planet." This is a story that has moral and scientific connotations. A planet has been found that once supported a large and thriving population. We learn that they became so advanced that they were to do away with instrumentalities. That's right, no tools needed, they had a machine that do anything they desired, or should I say thought of doing.

    If they wanted a new vehical to travel in, presto, this altimate machine made it for them. It seemed as if the universe was theirs for the mere thinking of it. But, then, why was there no trace of these people anymore? Just this big machine or computer existed. It was 20 miles square. As it turns out, this society killed itself off, how? Well, old hatreds, old desires, (human qualities hey) did them in. Monsters, monsters from the ID went about destroying them.

    Within days of that giagantic machine's being turned of, this great civilization perished! The discoverers what was left of them escaped that planet just in time to escape the explosion that ripped the planed apart. I know I have left a lot of the story out, and I would encourage you to rent the video. The point I gleamed from this story was that, even great scientific discoveries cannot assure a civilization of success and long life. This society forgot their limitations as individuals and it destroyed them in the end. Supposedly, mankind was to reach the heights of this ancient Krell (that's their name, or it was once) civilization, and how would mankind fare? Well hopefully man would learn from what happened to the Krell. What do you think?

What does the Bible say about our future?

In this discussion we will be using the King James Version of the Bible. With that said, let's see what the earth's future and ours will be.

Many people have been taught the earth is going to be destroyed by fire. Is this a true statement? The verses used to support this idea, are in reality speaking about wicked mankind, and not the literal earth. Why do I say this? I can say this because of what the Bible tells us. Let's see just what the Bible has to say about the subject of the literal earth's future.

Psalms 104:5 tells us: "Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever."

Psalms 119:90 adds: "Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth."

Eccelesiastes 1:4 says: "One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth forever."

It is very clear that the literal earth is to remain forever. It will not be destroyed in some fiery nightmare. But, what of mankind, what will be their future?

Once again, we can turn to the Bible for the anwser, an answer that will please most of you. At Isaiah 45:18 we read: "For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else."

Psalms 37:9-11, 29 assures us of this: "For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (29) The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever."

Romans 6:23 states: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gife of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

John 17:3 says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast given him."

What will life be like then?

Isaiah 11:6-9 tells us: "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion will eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." For a picture of this beautiful setting, click here.
