General

The oldest and highest quality building in the village of Sudyr is owned by the Thieves' Guild. It used to the manor house of the Llwydwydd family who also owned the village. The Guild infiltrated the village slowly then murdered the family one by one, each apparently an accident, till at last the two remaining children and an old retainer left the village to live with an uncle two dozen years ago. They believed the village to be cursed and have never returned to claim their birthright. It is a two-storey building with extensive cellars.
Members of the guild are allowed to borrow items from the guild store. These include weapons, armour and the odd magical item.

The Nobles

Weli has a small family, it is just himself, his wife Llian and his two year old son, Banddyn.

Servants

Weli Smallhands, the Guildmaster, has accumulated much wealth over the past dozen years. One of the trappings of such wealth is a good selection of reliable, well-behaved servants. The household staff comprises a chamberlain, a cook, an alewife, two guards and six domestic staff. They all have quarters within the manor house.

Ground Floor

Porch

This room allows visitors to shake the rain from their cloaks and scrape mud from their boots before entering the house. Through a hidden peephole in the wall you can see who is visiting before the door is opened.

Great Hall (West)

The leather throne atop a dais dominates this large square room. Benches are arranged around the dais for those times when Weli wants to address the village or divide the spoils of a wreck. A large fireplace makes the room warm and welcoming in the depths of winter and Weli will often have a jug of ale or wine mulling there to remove the chill from his bones after a successful wreck. In the days when this was home to the Llwydwydd family banners and sheilds used to hang upon the wall. Weli now hands the flags of some of the ships he has wrecked upon those walls.

Great Hall (East)

This room is used for feasting and also more private dining. A large fireplace in the east wall is kept burning most of the year a even in the middle of the short summer season the winds from the sea make the bones ache with their damp cold fingers. Minstrels are occasionally hired to play in the gallery above.

Main Stair

This wide stair leads up to the upper storey of the manor. Its banister has been carved in the form of a great sea serpent, the head forming the top of the end newel post. The scaly nature of the carving would make sliding down the banister a very painful experience! A trap door in the floor at the foot of the stairs leads to a storeroom.

Kitchen

Clean and functional this is the domain of the cook, Tesgamereg. Tess as she is known is a tyrant in the kitchen, and has been known to chase a laughing Weli out of the kitchen with a cleaver when the Guildmaster had been caught stealing plums from her store cupboard. She is equally at home making a quiet, simple dinner for two or a banquet for ten. A small storeroom lies adjacent to the kitchen and a ladder leads up to her room and another store area.

Servants' Stair

Mainly the servants use this spiral stair, which leads up to their rooms on the upper storey. A trapdoor in the floor leads down to a storeroom.

Guards' Bedroom

This spartan room is home to Weli's two Kuralakian guards, Thorthak and Calethim. They have few possessions other than their armour and weapons.
Thorthak (L6 True Neutral Human Fighter)
Thorthak is a giant of a man, some seven and a half-foot tall. He is not a strong man, but he uses his bulk to intimidate others. He is quiet bright but lacks any common sense, a trait that causes Weli to despair.

Calethin (L4 Neutral Evil Human Fighter)
Where Thorthak is a bully of average strength in a massive body, Calethin is the opposite. Short stout with a squint he lives in the shadow of his bigger friend. This suits him fine. People ignore him till they feel the touch of steel on their throat. Despite his appearances he is clever, very strong and a sharp observer of behaviour. Unknown to Weli and the other members of the Guild Calethin is a spy for the Karlakian government. He met Thorthak while Calethin was sailing on a mission for the government. Impressed by Thorthak's build he realised this brute of a man would be ideal cover for his future missions.

Chamberlain's Quarters

The chamberlain, Llefawg (LR 72) is responsible for the supervision of all the servants, procurement of provisions and the keeping of accurate records. He does his job exceedingly well, and Weli rewards him for his efforts. He has a large well-furnished room with all the comforts he could want. If for any reason Weli is away from the manor, Llefawg is left in command of the household but not of course the Guild. He is fifty-six years old with closely cropped grey hair. A scar puckers his left cheek and he has a limp after a fall last winter that left him with a broken leg.

Second Floor

Main Stair

This ornately carved stair leads down to the ground floor. A rich tapestry of a ship hangs on the wall at the head of the stair.

The Gallery

This area overlooks the main feasting hall. Musicians are sometimes hired by Weli to perform when he entertains important visiting Guildmasters. Paintings hang on the wall, Weli has little artistic taste and just chooses those he like best from wrecks.

Cook's Quarters

This small and smoky room is home to the cook. It is reached via a ladder from the kitchen. A simple cot and trunk are the only furnishings.

Store Room

This small storeroom contains sacks of grain, small barrels of beer and urns of pickled fish.

Master Bedroom

Three large windows light this large bedroom. The top half of each window contains stained glass which on sunny mornings paint the pale wood of the floorboards all the colours of the rainbow. A large fireplace warms the room and the chill is taken off of the floor with the skin of a rare white bear. A vanity table containing a variety of perfumes and unguents stands below one window while a writing desk sits below the central window. Weli's wife, Llian, is greedy and demands that at least one pretty item from a wreck is given to her. Weli is besotted and usually obliges, be it a silver hairbrush, a pearl earring or a bolt of silk. The wardrobe contains a variety of dresses, some in heavy wool others in the finest silk for special occasions. The shelves in the corner contain love letters from Weli and Llian, a scroll on dwarven armour making that Weli is sure he will translate one day and sets of household records that Llefawg has passed to Weli for checking.

Garderobe

The waste empties into a midden that is cleaned out twice a year, at the beginning of spring and the end of summer.

Playroom

His father spoils his son Banddyn. Whenever Weli goes away on a business trip he will always bring something home, usually a wooden toy carved by a renowned elven artist or a clockwork device crafted by a gnome. The large trunk contains numerous wooden blocks, soft toys and other such items.

Banddyn's Bedroom

A crib and a larger bed for his nurse are the only two items of furniture in this room. Weli has had an alphabet of fruit, animals and plants painted around the room.

Servants' Quarters

The domestic servants are crammed into a room at the end of a long dark corridor. Apart from the nurse, the cook and the chamberlain, who each have their own rooms, the other six domestic servants are housed here. They tend to be the daughters of families in the village who work here for a few years before moving on to other jobs.

Basement

Storeroom

This storeroom is almost empty. A cracked amphora leans drunkenly against one wall. To the casual glance it would appear that this room is no more than what it first appears, a storeroom, but if the amphora is moved a secret door can be opened which leads into the rest of the cellars.

Storeroom

This storeroom normally has a large number of heavy crates inside. If the lids are opened however it can be seen that they are all empty. If however one of the side panels are removed a person can crawl through them to a secret door into the rest of the cellars.

Practice Room

This room contains a number of doors and chests each with fine locks and tricky traps. The walls are of varying smoothness, which allows thieves to practice their climbing skills. The floor can be cleared to allow thieves to practice fencing and pick pocketing as well as moving undetected.

Cells

Three small cells, each with a wooden pallet are used for holding prisoners on the rare occasions that Weli detirmines that one of his captives is worth more alive than dead. Solid iron doors are fitted with the best locks that Weli can afford. If a prisoner is present one of his guards is always present, sitting in a chair in the corridor.

Storeroom

Bulk treasures such as silk, iron, wool, spices and such like are kept here under lock and key. This is also the armoury and non-magical weapons and armour are held here in preparation for wrecking missions.

Storeroom

This room has a very high quality lock as it holds the most valuable treasures. Gold, gems, magic items, bales of Puff and Kryyf are stored here and only Magei and Weli have keys to this room.
