~*~The Nine Clans of the Dalake~*~

When the Dalake were created, there was only one Clan, the twilight-colored children of Great Dalake himself. As the Myraid Corruptor's influence grew and splintered, so did the Dalake, concentrating on certain areas and special Gifts to combat the distruption of Balance of the Realm of Gaia. By the time the Shapeshifter War had started, Nine different Clans had been well established, with colors of scales reflecting the Gifts and power within.
The Dalake are all one race. A Dalake or Dalake-dragonkin can give birth to any of the other clans...the inherent powers are shown in their scales. The Clan structure is set up so the Elder Dalake may teach the younger of the same colors their special Gifts. The first Clan was just called Dalake, after the first, but as the Myriad Corruptor splintered more, the Dalake followed suit to combat it, and these first purple and violet dragons now go by the name of Clan Shadowscale. Below is a listing of all the Clans of the Dalake, in order of their formation, and a short description of each.

Clan Shadowscale: It is said that Great Dalake and his first children were all the color of Twilight, and the other eight Clans grew from the Shadowscales as the need for restoring the balance spread. Being the first, Shadowscales can learn the Gifts of ALL the Clans, though to a lesser extent of the acual Clan. They are also the most in tume with the Umbra, and their own Gifts reflect this. Even elder Shadowscale-kin are so in tune they can break through a thin barrier and enter the Umbra.

Clan Firescale: Natually, the red-scaled weredragons are marked by fire and the job of keeping it pure. Their Gifts allow them to control the aspects of fire, from creating tiny sparks to a controled cleansing wildfire to summoning the occational fire-spirit. They tend to be as hot-tempered as the flames they control...it is not the best idea to get on the bad side of a Flamescale.

Clan Seascale: The blue weredragons and their kin are most at home in and near the seas and oceans. Their Gifts allow them to control most of the aspects of water, and they have the ability to breathe underwater as they explore the vast underwater worlds. They are easy going, only getting riled if someone or something tries to distrupt the ocean's balance. They are also some of the few creatues that accually LIKE the weresharks.

Clan Nightscale: While most Dalake confront inbalance and corruption in the sun's light, these black weredragons prefer the darkness, searching out the Myraid Corruptor's minions on their home hurf. The gifts of the Nightscale allow them to control certain aspects of the night, as well as the air and wind.

Clan Forestscale: These green weredragons are the guardians of the great woodlands and forests. Their gifts recall ancient druid spells and the ability to mold the very earth to their wil, if need be. They also protect the plains and deserts in the absence of the dormant Clan Sandscale.

Clan Sancscale::For ages, the barren wastelands and deserts held off the grip of corruption. However, The Myraid Corruptor was lothe to find a place he had not concured, and when Nextborn monsters dragged their claws over the sands, the orange Sandscales arose from the Forestscales to push them back to the pits beneath the surface. They had the same earth-moving gifts as the Forestscales, with a natural afinity for the dunes and the slight ability to control the temerature there. They and their dragon kin were killed during the Shapeshifter War, their gifts and colors laying dormant in the genes of other Dalake.
