The Unofficial X-Files Drinking Game
STEP ONE: Set the stage.
- Collect as many episodes as you think you can view comfortably in a single evening.
- Arrange your beverage or snack of choice in a convenient location.
- Turn out the lights.
- Make sure you've got control of the remote.
STEP TWO: Listen closely. This is where the fun starts!
Take a single sip, or snack, when any of the following happens:
- Anyone says, "I don't know!"
- Scully rolls her eyes.
- Mulder provides a theory that stuns his partner.
- A language other than English, or subtitles, is used.
- Scully or Mulder says, "It's me."
- Mulder is called anything other than "Mulder."
- The CSM squints out through a haze of smoke from his own cigarette.
- Mulder loses his gun or cellular phone.
- Our favorite agents use their super-duper flashlights.
- Any character sees/eats/mentions sunflower seeds.
- Scully performs a postmortem exam on a human cadaver.
- Mulder, Scully, or any of their colleagues messes up the science.
- A character known only by a descriptive name turns up during an investigation.
- There's a close-up of Scully's feet.
- An alternative-music tune plays in the background.
- Mulder and/or Scully runs afoul of local law enforcement officers.
- Scully or Mulder sticks something into a specimen bottle.
- You find yourself reaching for the dictionary after watching The X-Files.
- Any character investigates anything alone.
If you hear/see any of these, take two sips or two treats:
- Scully explains the bleeding obvious.
- A string of numbers that looks like it ought to mean something.
- Uniformed men, carrying guns and ready to chase down our heroes, appear at the order of a mysterious man.
- Scully and/or Mulder rents a car from Lariat Rent-a-Car.
- Mulder alludes to his pornographic collection or interest.
- Someone sticks a masking-tape X in a window.
- "Abduction" and "Samantha" are mentioned in the same speech by any regular appearing character.
- Scully performs a postmortem examination on anything other than an obviously human cadaver.
- A helicopter makes an appearance.
- Anyone is attacked in a bathroom.
- Scully and Mulder get DNA/PCR testing results back in less than twenty-four hours.
- One character calls another an SOB.
- A dead character appears under "unusual" circumstances.
- Any "aliens" appear.
- We're treated to pictures of something seen through a microscope.
- Mrs. Mulder sniffles.
- Scully or Mulder wears glasses.
- Camera pulls a close-up on a clock.
- Anyone alludes to the "Roswell incident."
- Mulder appears to have forget he has a psychology degree, or Scully forgets her own undergraduate degree in physics.
- Someone quotes from the Bible.
These rare occurrences rate a big gulp or handful of junk food:
- Scully agrees with Mulder.
- Mulder addresses Scully as anything other than "Scully."
- Scully and Mulder find themselves in a dark room with anything other than their super-duper flashlights.
- The credits include a phrase other than "THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE."
- Mulder or Scully encounters a former lover.
- Any of the regulars appear without all their street clothes.
- One of the Mulders or Scullys is murdered. [Marita: I'm thinking Pendrell, Queequeg, and definitely Emily count]
- Any character is hypnotized.
- Something blows up.
- Someone under investigation turns out to have a bipolar condition.
- Mulder and Scully receive unconditional support for their investigations from local law enforcement personnel.
- Dead animals make an appearance.
STEP THREE: Invite in the next group of victims and see Step One.
STEP FOUR: Keep this list handy for the next season-ending cliffhanger, the long stretch of reruns, or the inevitable Sweeps Week two-parters.
Drinking Game Version 2

Level 1: Just A Buzz Take one drink every time...
- Mulder makes a bad joke or pun.
- The time, date, or location appears at the bottom of the screen.
- Mulder appears unshaven and grubby.
- Scully or Mulder go into a dark dangerous place without waiting for
the other.
- Scully expresses an entire idea just by saying "Mulder?"
- Scully brushes her hair out of her eyes.
- Mulder puts the X in the window.
- Mulder or Scully raise their voices.
- Mulder or Scully listen to their answering machines.
- The current X file is related to a 50 year old X file that only
Mulder knows still exists.
Level 2: Good Thing I'm Not Driving Take two drinks every time...
- Mulder or Scully call each other via Cell Phone.
- Mulder or Scully bust out the lightsabre flash lights.
- Cancer Man smokes a cigarette.
- Mr. X talks to Mulder.
- An X file leads Mulder and Scully to an alien, monster, mutant,
ghost, or person with supernatural powers.
- Scully or Mulder flash their badges.
- Somebody dies.
- Mulder or Scully come into contact with a previously unknown virus,
parasite, or odd life-form that almost kills them.
- Mulder or Scully draw their guns.
- Mulder and Scully have different theories on a case.
Level 3: Wow Look At The Colors Drink a Full Beer or Shot Every
Time...
- Cancer Man stubs out a Cigarette.
- Krycek kills somebody.
- Skinner and Mulder argue with each other.
- Scully or Mulder get Kidnapped/abducted.
- Mulder runs his fingers through his hair, or appears in a speedo.
- A metal object is found in a suspected alien abductee.
- A computer does something computers can't do.
- We see any of the conspiracy gang. (Mulder's 3 pals...The Lone
Gunmen, that is)
- We see an alien or UFO
- Mulder beats somebody up.
- We see the abduction of Mulder's sister.
