(Original air date: April 11, 1998)
(This is the personal journal for Bryan Stone, leader, Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger. Entry for March 27, 1998. Annie Stewart was on the scene as the GammaRanger defeated Lord Namrock's first onslaught of the Balzac drones. After filing a report for the local news channel, Annie vowed to find out who the GammaRanger are. Namrock used this revelation to deploy his first Beta Monster, Beta Blade. As he lands on Earth, Beta Blade uses his powers to make himself an evil duplicate of Annie. The Rangers found success in beating him, until Galevan fires a new device at Beta Blade, causing him to grow. It is only then do the Rangers find difficulty. After suffering a defeat of sorts, Koike transloads them to a disclosed area.)
(As the GammaRanger are teleported to a mysterious location, Namrock revels in his near victory in the downtown district.)
Namrock: Look at this... LOOK AT THIS!!! Empty! All the Users are mine for the taking!
Galevan: So what next?
Beta Blade: I shall claim all the Users in your name, Lord.
Rhexus: Namrock, there is something I have to tell you.
Namrock: Later. Right now I want to survey my new territory. (Maniacal laughter)
(Meanwhile, the Rangers are being transloaded to a disclosed location. Where they are headed is a mystery to all, but wherever it is, the passengers have an unsuspected cargo. The Rangers all appear without their helmets.)
Scottie: Where the hell are we?
Eric: (laying Annie on a biobed) I don't know... Looks like something out of Star Trek, though.
Amy: Deep Space Nine or Voyager?
Eric: Shut up, Amy.
Bryan: (Trying to communicate) Koike, what happened?
Koike: Besides me sending you here, you mean?
(He draws blank stares.)
This is your new home. I call it the MD SkyStation. This is where you will make your new plan of attack against Beta Blade.
Bryan: New plan?
Koike: Yes. In your next battle with the Beta Blade, you will be armed with a new warrior.
(Amy begins to look around.)
However, I have yet to recover the necessary code to form this new warrior.
Amy: Whoa... Talk about your future shock.
Bryan: Well, it is from the twenty-first century.
Koike: That is correct, Stone. Totally designed from one of the programs you created.
Bryan: The MegaDriver program? That's where I recognize the codes from.
Eric: You sure recognize a lot of codes, Bryan.
Bryan: Well, when you write code for a few months... (overlooks the console again) Wait a second. There's one code missing. The main driving code.
Koike: That is correct. The necessary code for MegaDriver.
(Just after Bryan overlooks the controls, a voice from the background begins to moan)
Voice: Ouch... Where...?
Bryan: Did you guys hear something? (pause, while Bryan looks behind) Annie.... ANNIE?
Annie: Those suits. (turn to one side) Those helmets. I take it you're the Rangers? Impossible! You're just a bunch of kids.
Eric: Actually, he's twenty-four years old. WE'RE the bunch of kids.
Bryan: Kids or not, we ARE the GammaRanger.
Annie: (in a panic) Well, kids or not, this is news and the public has a right to know. How do you get off this thing anyway?
Eric: Umm.. about that. We're sorta stuck.
(Some beeping in the background.)
Koike: I'm getting a reading, Rangers. It turns out that after a while, Beta Monsters shrink to original size.
Laura: Well, it's been about 30 minutes.
Koike: Precisely. Except for now they're as strong as they were when they were grown.
Scottie: How are we supposed to defeat this guy anyway?
Laura: Especially without the MegaDriver code?
Bryan: Well, we have to get the code somehow, but until then... (Thinks) Koike, can we fly this thing?
(Meanwhile, on Earth, Beta Blade reacts to his newfound flaw.)
Beta Blade: What's this?
Galevan: I see our little warrior was an Achilles' heel.
Beta Blade: Well, How would you like to feel my pain!
Namrock: Galevan! Beta Blade! Silence the both of you! Surely there is a way to fix your problem.
Rhexus: So how exactly do we fix this problem?
Namrock: I have an idea. Another virus, but this time, put a failsafe on it. How about a merging program?
Rhexus: Hmm... Merging program. Excellent if I do say so myself.
Galevan: Just what I need.. If one Beta Monster wasn't enough. Now I need one and a half.
Beta Blade: Yes... that would mean one new Betamon... and you.
Chouzo: Well we can't create it here.
Namrock: Yes. Galevan, stay here and round up our Users.
Galevan: Why me? It is my duty as your guardian to fight the Rangers!
Namrock: It is your duty as my guardian to do my bidding. Now do my bidding.
Galevan: Yes, my liege. It would be an honor to do more than this ponch could.
Beta Blade: You leave my ponch out of this!
Namrock: Forget him, let's go.
Chouzo: Oh, yes! I love it when a...
Namrock: Yeah, yeah...
(The group, except Galevan, escape through a digital wormhole, just as soon as the Rangers arrive in the MD SkyStation.)
Eric: I don't get it! They got away!
Amy: What's to get? We were too late!
Bryan: But Galevan is still there. You two better go take care of him, and take Laura with you. Scottie, you come with me.
Amy: You can count on us, Bryan.
Scottie: Wait a sec, Bry. Where are we going?
Bryan: To Stone Laboratories.
Scottie: Could I ask why?
(Amy, Eric, and Laura grab their helmets and race down the deployment chute. Their respective alter egos race after Galevan.)
Galevan: I can't believe that Namrock left me here to do his dirty work.
AquaMercury: That should be the least of your worries.
Galevan: GammaRanger?!
GreenMars: That would be us. Now that you're alone, we can really go at it.
Galevan: I don't think so. (Opens a DigiWindow Communicator™) Namrock, send the Balzac!
Namrock: Not this time, Galevan. (Turns the DWC™ into a warp, in which a group of Balzac and two BetaMons come out.) Behold, my new Beta Robo.
Galevan: Not another one.
Namrock: This one has an added option. You'll see.
Galevan: Yeah, right before the GammaRanger send him packing, he makes User toast.
Namrock: In a way, yes. GreenMars: Are you guysfinished yet?
Beta Robo: No, but you are!
(Meanwhile, at the Station...)
Annie: Wait one second... How were the Rangers able to get out?
Koike: I'm sorry, Miss Stewart, but as long as you know the GammaRanger's secret, you cannot be permitted to leave the Station. I hope you understand.
Annie: (sarcastically) Well, that just makes perfect sense...
Koike: Doesn't it, though?
(Back at the battle scene...)
YellowVenus: C'mon, we can take these guys!
GreenMars: Now you're talking, let's get 'em! Ranger Daggers up!
(YellowVenus takes the Balzac with impeccable timing and skill. AquaMercury tries her hand at the BetaMons. GreenMars, insane as he is, goes after Galevan's mighty sword with his Ranger Dagger. Unfortunately, all three are knocked three ways from Sunday.)
YellowVenus: What just happened?
GreenMars: We just got hit... Hard.
AquaMercury: Where are Bryan and Scottie anyway?
(Behold... The answer to Laura's question, also known as Stone Laboratories, on the edge of town. Bryan and Scottie sneak into Dr. Scott's office. They locate the drawer where the FileCoins were once located.)
Scottie: What are we doing here?
Bryan: Looking for the secret code to activate MegaDriver. Hmm... There's gotta be a clue around here somewhere.
Scottie: MegaDriver? What the...
Bryan: A fierce robotic warrior formed by the vehicles of the SkyStation.
Scottie: Sort of like GalaxyM.. (Bryan shuts his mouth)
Bryan: Exactly. I think it's the only way we can defeat Beta Blade.
Scottie: You sold me, dude. So where do we start? (Looking around) This drawer... Where we got the FileCoins.
Bryan: Hey... what's this? (Picks up a file marked "Classified." I see some letters... M... E... G... A. How obvious.
Scottie: The disk in here looks like it fits the hard drive of the main console. Hmm... My guess is that Stone Labs is preparing for something big. That's probably why the Balzac were here the other day. (thinks for a sec) I wonder what's on this disk...
Bryan: Well, no time to see the directories. Not only is Beta Robo causing a panic among the people downtown, but your dad is about to get out of lunch.
Scottie: But how..?
Bryan: Well, I am from the future.
Scottie: Oh, just stick that in my face. OK... I'll be at the Station now... You coming?
Bryan: Right... Let's lock and upload.
(They activate their CyberLoaders.)
Ranger File, Download!
Koike: Do you have the code?
RedJupiter: Got it, chief.
(They insert the disks in the colored consoles and type MEGA into the computer. The files begin to upload onto the screen.)
Koike: While the files are being copied, you better go help out your friends.
RedJupiter: My thoughts exactly. Let's go, Scottie.
BlueNeptune: On it!
(The two race to the deployment chutes. Down on the ground, the Rangers are having their heads handed to them, until...)
RedJupiter: (blasts the group of BetaMons.) How do you like those?
GreenMars: Where were you guys?
BlueNeptune: You'll see in a few minutes. Right now, we've got to take care of these two BetaMons.
YellowVenus: I'm with you on that.
RedJupiter: Blast Daggers! Level 3!
Rangers: Fire!
(Beta Robo and Beta Blade are both hit by the Rangers' blasts. Namrock is not pleased.)
Namrock: This does NOT PLEASE ME! Galevan, produce the merge, and then order the Beta Blaster.
Galevan: (On ground) You heard Lord Namrock, merge and Beta Blast at once!!
Beta Robo and Beta Blade: YES!
(The two merge to become Beta RoBlade. Then Rhexus comes in and Beta Blasts the newly-formed Betavirus.)
Beta RoBlade: Now let's see you try and stop my wrath, GammaUsers!
(On the ground)
RedJupiter: Get to the Station before he does!
(The five transload on board the Station.)
Koike, did you upload the files?
Koike: Yes, Bryan. The MegaDriver program is set. Take your places, Rangers.
(RedJupiter goes to the center to his pilot's deck. The other Rangers follow suit to their decks.)
BlueNeptune: Neptune Deck online.
GreenMars: Mars Deck online.
YellowVenus: Venus Deck online.
AquaMercury: Mercury Deck online.
RedJupiter: All decks online. Unzip MegaDriver sequence!
Annie: This isn't happening... This isn't happening... THIS ISN'T HAPPENING!!!
(The two sides of MD SkyStation deploy to reveal two tank-like machines. Then from those machines two jets rise and transform into arms... )
YellowVenus: How's the machinery, Laura?
AquaMercury: Looking good from here, Amy!
(The two tanks fold up to form legs... )
GreenMars: Excellent! Just like a car!
BlueNeptune: Yeah, only bigger...
(And the MD Base transforms into a torso.)
RedJupiter: Now link up!
Annie: This isn't happening, this isn't happening, this isn't happening....
GreenMars: IT'S HAPPENING, alright? And we're in the middle of it, so brace yourself!
(Koike watches with RedJupiter as the pieces finally come together. MegaDriver is formed and online.)
Rangers: MegaDriver! Ready!
Annie: This ISN'T HAPPENING!!!
BlueNeptune: Just relax and leave the flying to us.
Annie: That's what I'm afraid of!!!
Koike: You are forgetting, Miss Stewart. These are the GammaRanger. The best of the best of the best.
(MegaDriver begins combat with Beta RoBlade. Unfortunately, Beta RoBlade gets in the first hit. And it's pretty bad.)
RedJupiter: Regroup!
(MegaDriver seems to be gaining some composure. The robotic warrior is ready to begin its conquest.)
Unzip Antisaber! Now download!
(The Antisaber, a powerful antivirus forged into a sword much like Beta Blade's arms, slices through the midsection of Beta RoBlade, utterly decimating him.) Rangers: (cheers)
RedJupiter: I have a feeling that MegaDriver will come in handy a lot.
(The MD Station reverts to ship mode.)
You think you can get this mech back to the compound?
Koike: I can try, Bryan. You better get back to the ground... And take Miss Stewart with you.
(Rangers, sans helmets.)
Laura: What about Annie? Will she...
Koike: No, it's automatic. She won't remember a thing.
Annie: Yeah, right...
(Later, at around 10:00 on Channel Nine.)
...and so the GammaRanger have once again saved the day.
(Cut into the Rangers watching on Scottie's TV with amusement.) Not only that, but the mysterious team of warriors have volunteered for the cleanup efforts.
(Cut into the Satellite Namrock.)
Who are the GammaRangers? The world wants to know. This is Annie Stewart for...
Namrock: (Shutting off the feed) So I don't have my User slaves anymore. They think that this is over. Little do the Users know that this... this is only the beginning...
Only the beginning.... (maniacal laughter).
