(This is the personal journal of Bryan Stone, leader of Cyberspace Task Force GammaRanger, for June 7, 1998:
What started out as a day of rest turned into a day of work. When Laura was kidnapped by Beta Gator and Beta Specter, Scottie decided to take action against the Namrocks by himself. I managed to talk him out of it, as fighting the Namrocks is a team effort. With the help of our mysterious new friend, the "GridRanger," Laura managed to escape the vortex, just in time for her to help us finish Beta Gator. Beta Specter still remains, however, in a rather weak form, or so Laura tells me.)
(The scene: the outpost. The secret project is nearing completion. All that is needed is a surge of lightning to give it life. Galevan oversees the Namrock operation.)
Rhexus: Fifty-five degrees... Forty declination. Charge of negative three....
Galevan: What is taking you so long with that lightning?
Rhexus: You don't just make a lightning surge in a generation, you know... You need the right clock speed, frequency, and it has to be in the right place at the right time. I thought you were supposed to know these things!
Galevan: Don't talk down to me or you'll be sorry Namrock ever created me.
Beta Specter: Save your energy for the battle.
Galevan: What battle?
Beta Specter: The battle in which we defeat the Gamma Users. (opens a Digiwindow) My sources tell me that the MegaDriver is severely weakened due to the last fights.
Chouzo: So what does this have to do with us?
Beta Specter: The energy from that will provide the life-giving fuel. And I have just the virus.
Galevan: NO! Not this time. All your Betaviruses have failed. This time, you do it yourself. Or are you afraid?
(While the Namrocks get the accessories they need for Beta Specter's assault, Bryan watches some .avi files of previous battles with Beta Tanker, Beta Solar, Beta Flare, and Beta Gator aboard the SkyStation.)
Bryan: (to himself) There's one thing missing. I just wish I knew what it was...
(Bryan sends a message to his friends:

(On the Satellite, where the two conflicting viruses, Galevan and Beta Specter, face Lord Namrock.)
Beta Specter: So what are you trying to say?
Galevan: You know well what I'm trying to say! You're not going out there because you can't do it!
Beta Specter: Why would you say that unless you couldn't?
Galevan: Because I don't think you can do it! You're a coward and you know it!
(They begin to fight when Lord Namrock steps in.)
Namrock: Now my children...
Galevan and Beta Specter (angrily): What?
Namrock: If you can't resolve your problem before me, then why don't you fight them together?
Galevan: I don't want to fight with this overconfident waste of cache.
Beta Specter: You want to talk about a waste of cache?
Namrock: Silence! It has become apparent to me that you think that I was asking?
Beta Specter: I'd rather be wiped off the face of the Grid!
Namrock: I can have that arranged... Now go!
(The Namrocks leave the Satellite. Back to the SkyStation, where the Rangers are wondering why they've been called.)
Eric: You mind telling us why you've called us here?
Scottie: How's the energy level on MegaDriver?
Bryan: It's getting there, but that's now why I called you guys here.
Amy: Why did you call us here?
Bryan: These. (Brings up five separate battles on the intranet) What do you notice?
Eric: They're all the last few battles.
Laura: But what does that have to do with us?
Bryan: Plenty. (plays the .avis one at a time in chronological order)
Laura: I don't get it.
Bryan: Neither do I. That's why I called you guys here. Maybe you can help me.
Scottie: Sounds cool to me.
(The Rangers get to work on the "puzzle," when a mysterious message comes through their computers.)
Voice: Rangers...
Amy: Did y'all hear something?
Laura: Uhh... no?
Scottie: Umm, Amy, you sure you haven't been in Atlanta too long?
Amy: Shut the hell up. (to herself) I know I heard something.
(The Rangers look at Amy as if she was crazy. In a quarry outside of town, where the Namrocks are busy cooking up a plan.)
Beta Specter: Chouzo, you and the Balzac know what to do.
Chouzo: I know, I know. Can we just do it already?
Beta Specter: I still think this is without the realm of the appropriate strategy.
Galevan: For once I agree with Chouzo. Beta Specter, stop stalling!
Rhexus: Okay, okay. Let's get this overwith. Beta Blast!
(The Balzac Betablasts the two warriors. Galevan becomes Megalevan as Beta Specter grows.)
Megalevan: Now for phase two.
(Cut back to the SkyStation, where the team is getting "haunted" by a voice.)
Voice: Rangers... Listen.
Amy: Now I know I wasn't crazy that time.
Scottie: Neither was I. And I'm crazy all the time!
Bryan: It's coming from the computer.
Voice: Rangers, listen to me.
Bryan: It's... GridRanger!
GridRanger: (image forming) Look at the world. Look to yourself. You'll find the answer.
(Image and voice fades with that message.)
Bryan: That was GridRanger.
Scottie: That? That's the figure you and Laura saw?
Bryan: What do you mean me and Laura?
Laura: Bryan... we gotta talk. When I was kidnapped by Beta Gator, GridRanger helped me get out of Cyberspace.
(While Laura explains to the others about her encounter with GridRanger, the Namrocks are busy heading towards town.)
Beta Specter: GammaRanger! Show yourself!
Megalevan: I told you this wouldn't work!
Beta Specter: It will. You just have to up the ante.
(Beta Specter begins to shoot the town, causing mass hysteria down below. On the SkyStation.)
Laura: Alarms are going off like crazy!
Eric: We're not fully charged yet!
Bryan: And worst off, we haven't found the link yet!
Scottie: Bryan, go back home and take care of it. We'll use the DriverMechs while the central core is still charging.
Bryan: (reluctantly) All right. Get going.
(The Rangers transform and head for their modules. Module one houses CruiserTank-2 and TurboJet-4.)
BlueNeptune and YellowVenus: Module one ready!
(Cut to module two, housing CruiserTank-3 and TurboJet-5.)
GreenMars and AquaMercury: Module two ready!
BlueNeptune: Let's lock and upload!
(The Mechs head downtown to take on the overgrown monsters. Cut to the basement, where Bryan is analyzing the clues given to him.)
Bryan: (to himself) "Look to yourself."
(Bryan plays the files again, looking for what he can find that can be related to that clue. Suddenly, it hits him.)
Bryan: Myself! The MegaDriver!
(He begins to notice the MegaDriver's difference with each battle. Then the true answer begins to surface.)
Bryan: So that's what he's after... Which means...
(Cut to downtown, where the Rangers are fighting the two monsters.)
BlueNeptune: Amy, you think you can head off Megalevan?
YellowVenus: It's gonna take everything in my power, but we'll see. TurboJet dispatch!
(The TurboJet dispatches and begins to fly around Megalevan and shoots at him.)
Heh! How ya like me now?
Megalevan: I like ya deleted and scattered across the Grid! (begins to shoot at the jet)
GreenMars: Sorry! Can't have that. Modem Missile download!
(GreenMars launches his Modem Missile at both Beta Specter and Megalevan.)
AquaMercury: No! You gotta do it like this! Scanner Cannon download! (fires a straight laser)
BlueNeptune: Guys, you just gave me an idea. Activate the Driver weapons. Disc Shot download!
YellowVenus: Printer Screen download!
GreenMars: Modem Missile download!
AquaMercury: Scanner Cannon download!
(They all fire in synchrosity. They manage to fell Beta Specter and Megalevan, but they rejuvenate and get back up.)
Beta Specter: (yawns) Nice try, but then again. (fires energy laser)
Megalevan: Get them!
YellowVenus: This bites! Nothing's working!
GreenMars: Yeah, we need Bryan and the MegaDriver.
(Meanwhile down below...)
Rhexus: With all this kinetic energy, it should be no time before the surge is created! (Balzac try and pester him) No! Go away!
(Back at the DriverMechs, the DriverShip-1 arrives.)
BlueNeptune: Hold up, guys... DriverShip-1?
AquaMercury: It's Bryan!
(In DriverShip-1.)
RedJupiter: Guys I found the answer! Upload MegaDriver sequence, NOW!
BlueNeptune: Are you kidding? If these guys take us out again...
RedJupiter: I know. But they won't this time... Just do it!
BlueNeptune: All right.
(Split to the five-screen.)
Rangers: MegaDriver charge!
(The Rangers form MegaDriver.)
BlueNeptune: Bryan, what gives? Don't you remember what happened?
RedJupiter: Yeah. And I know why. Somehow, all the Betamons were formatted to drain energy from whatever source that they could find. Unfortunately, the MegaDriver was one of those sources! They need energy for something!
YellowVenus: That explains the patterns of battles.
GreenMars: Can we talk about this later? I want to kick some viral ass!
RedJupiter: Eric, we gotta take this slowly. Remember to conserve energy! Antisaber download!
(After forming the Antisaber, MegaDriver begins a losing battle with Beta Specter and Megalevan.)
Beta Specter: That was a good effort, but still an effort none the less.
RedJupiter: Amy, how much energy do we have left?
YellowVenus: Thirty-five percent. Less than 25 percent and we're going back to Cyberspace to reenergize.
RedJupiter: OK. Here's the plan. You four dispatch to the Server Cycles and I'll charge up the SkyStation. Use the MD Cannon to take him out. Got it?
BlueNeptune: It might short out the circuits!
RedJupiter: It's the only chance we have. So... are you guys with me?
Rangers: Right!
(The Rangers go to the Server Cycles and assemble the MD Cannon. RedJupiter reassembles the SkyStation.)
BlueNeptune: There he is! Bryan, where does he want it?
RedJupiter: The jewel on his head. On my command... (pause while he examines the enemy) Driver Weapons, fire! (All four weapons fire)
Rangers: Server Cycles fire!
BlueNeptune: MD Cannon, fire!
(The combined firepower manages to destroy the Beta Specter. RedJupiter joins the Rangers on the ground. So does Galevan.)
RedJupiter: We finally beat him.
Galevan: Today, I let you live, GammaRanger, but only because you defeated Beta Specter. I will be back. (Digitizes out.)
GreenMars: No! Come back! I wanna kick your ass!
RedJupiter: Let him go. You'll only provoke another battle. Ranger shutdown!
(Rangers retroform.)
Scottie: So what's the deal with all this energy?
Bryan: You remember the last few Betamons and what they did? Scottie, Beta Tanker...
Scottie: It took all the oil from the rig planted offshore.
Bryan: It was planted from the earth, right? And Amy, the Beta Flare...
Amy: Yeah, it tried to take the sun away, so it can harness the solar energy.
Eric: Beta Balzac tried to collect the wind.
Laura: And I can't forget the Beta Gator who took the water vapor. It was when Scottie...
(Collective Ranger moan of "yeah, we know", except for Scottie.)
Scottie: What? What's so wrong with that?
Bryan: All right, settle, people. They're all natural forces used to power the Earth. But what could he...
(Suddenly the sky erupts and someone pops out of a wormhole.)
