The Sonic Five are back. And leave it to Arachness to ruin a good thing. After we learn the identity of the monster attacking as Pixel's father, the only logical thing we could do was bring him in and tend to his injuries. then he gave Pixel a choice. I won't bore anyone with details, but because of Adam Brayman, we won against Gelatox. but every silver lining has a cloud, as we found out that the one thing Rob truly fought for -- Pixel -- left. Without even saying goodbye.
End Transmission.
[O Techlabs. Sydney is sketching a drawing of Rob, who is seated slouched on a windowsill, looking out to the night skyline.]
Sydney: ... (hums)
[Rob blinks, and turns his head to face Syd.]
Sydney (smiling): Hi!
Rob (glumly): What are you doing?
Sydney: I'm drawing you.
Rob: Oh.
[Rob turns back around and continues his staring.]
Sydney: Are you OK?
Rob (still glum): Yeah...
Sydney: Are you thinking about Pixel again?
Rob (nodding): Mm-hmm.
Sydney: Rob, listen. She'll come back. But you can't just wait around here until she returns. You'll have to do something with your time.
Rob: Like what?
Sydney: I don't know. Ever think about drawing?
Rob: Me? Draw? Hmph, I couldn't do that.
Sydney: Then play a video game with Neil, do whatever you did before the rest of us were activated. Play your guitar or something.
Rob: I guess I could.
[Rob heads off to the break room, where Neil and Carter are already having at it in a video game. Sydney follows him.]
Neil: Yo, Rob.
Carter: Wanna play?
Rob (after a deep sigh): Negative.
[Rob passes Neil and Carter and sits in a corner where he silently plays his guitar in a sad droll. Sydney observes while Dr. O enters.]
Dr. O: What are we looking at?
Sydney: A broken man.
Dr. O: What's wrong with Rob? Electrolytic unbalance? Flawed Pentium chip?
Sydney: A broken heart.
Arachness: So they've left.
Raybin: You do realize what this means, don't you?
Arachness: Why don't you be so kind as to tell me, William?
Raybin: You know what type of relationship that the girl and Rob had?
Arachness: Obviously, if he'd finish off my best Galtoids.
Raybin: Now, I'm not an expert on human psychology, but I know that this type of breakup is probably hurting him. (turns to Arachness) I have an idea. Where's Divit?
Carter: That's forty... and fifty... You owe me sixty bucks!
Kevin: This is rigged, isn't it? I swear that I was winning before?
Carter: There's a reason for that, Kev. You suck. (puts his controller up) Keep practicing!
[Annoyed, Kevin goes to Rob to complain about what happened.]
Kevin: How did Carter beat me? I'm the master of that game!
Rob (seemingly in a daze): Huh? Oh. Sorry to hear.
Kevin: That's it. You're coming with me.
Rob: Hold on. Where are you taking me?
Kevin: You'll see.
[Suddenly, Echo comes on over the loudspeaker.]
Echo: Sonic Five, report to the conference room for a briefing.
Rob: Later. We gotta go.
[The three hurry to the conference room.]
Jackson: There've been recent reports of Galtoid activity. (brings up screen to a stony monster.) This is Teramo. He has been creating small, localized earthquakes all over the city.
Sydney: This explains why the news have been reporting seismic activity. I didn't think earthquakes happened in New York of all places.
Jackson: Well, it's up to Sonic Five to investigate these happenings. [While Jackson talks, Rob looks at the empty seat beside him.]
.. and the FiveCannon should be enough to finish him, wouldn't you agree, Rob?
Rob (coming out of his lapse): Umm... Yeah. The FiveCannon sounds good.
Jackson: Good. Then hit him whenever you get the chance. You five better get on it soon.
S-Five: Right!
Jackson: Dismissed.
[Everyone heads for their Speeders, when Rob is stopped at the door.]
Dr. O: Rob, wait.
Rob: What is it?
Dr. O: I couldn't help but think that you were somewhere else.
Rob: I don't know... what you...
Dr. O: Come on, Rob. Let's talk about it. I've managed to get Kevin's tickets to today's Yankees game. Besides, with your current psychological situation, it just may be the thing you need to cheer up.
Rob: Are you sure?
Dr. O: Trust me. My father used to take me to Yankees game when I was feeling down. And now I'm doing the same for you.
Rob: Well.. if you say so...
Carter: Hey guys! it looks like Blue Speeder's got something!
Sydney: What is it?
Carter: It looks like the tremors are forming a pattern.
Neil: Do you have any idea where's the next one?
Carter: I don't know. But from the looks of it, it might triangluating a site close to... Yankee Stadium?
Sydney: Why would he go to Yankee Stadium?
Neil: Well, the Cubs are visiting the Bombers. Maybe he wants to catch a pop fly off of Sammy Sosa.
Sydney: Forget I asked.
Kevin: How close his Teramo?
Carter: Approximately fifty yards. We better get to that point before Teramo.
Sydney: Right! Sonic charge, white!
Neil: Sonic charge, yellow!
Kevin: Sonic charge, black!
Carter: Sonic charge, blue!
[The Sonic Rangers transform and move to the prescribed coordinates.]
Rob: So... why am I here again?
Dr. O: Well, after what the others told me about how you were dealing with Pixel leaving...
Rob: What about me dealing with Pixel leaving? I think I'm taking this rather nicely.
Dr. O: Neil whispered to me that you were "zoning out again."
Rob (pausing): I guess.... I do need to get my mind off of Pixel.
Dr. O: And this is just the way to do it. (signals for a hot dog vendor) Two, please.
[The vendor passes two hot dogs to the doctor.]
Rob: So where did you get this idea that baseball was the cure for mental anguish?
Dr. O: My father. I remember being in a similar situation. I was about 13.
Dr. O: My mother had died. My dad knew how close I was to her.
[A younger version of Watson sits at a desk looking at a picture of his family. His father, Richard Oppenheimer, enters the room.]
Richard: Something wrong, Watson?
Watson: What makes you say that?
Richard: Well, for one, you're not doing your algebra homework. Usually, you're done in half an hour.
Watson: I don't feel like doing any homework now...
Richard (with empathy): It's your mother, isn't it?
[Watson stays silent.]
Come on. Let's go somewhere.
Watson: Where?
Richard (mildly laughing): You'll see.
Rob: I still don't understand what this has to do with me and Pixel.
Dr. O: You'll see.
[Watson and Richard take their seats. About halfway through the game and a bout of silence with young Watson, Richard finally decides to say something.]
Richard: So what are you thinking about?
Watson: Come on, Dad. You know what I'm thinking about.
Richard: Listen. I know what you're going through. I feel like I've known Elaine for life.
Watson: It must have been hard for you.
Richard: It was. But you know what held me together? (pause) Discipline.
Watson: How did you get to that point?
Richard: Well... It's a little hard to explain... but... (points out the batter) You see that guy?
Watson: Joe DiMaggio. What about him?
Richard: Well, being as famous as he is, you would think that he has a million things on his mind. But he never lets it get him while he's playing.
Watson (after witnessing a DiMaggio home run): I guess you're right.
Dr. O: I played ball in high school and college because of that little talk about discipline. I mean, there was no way I could vent out my disappointment of my mother dying.
Rob: But what about me?
Dr. O: You have a way of venting out your inner turmoil for the good of all humanity. You're the leader of Sonic Five.
[From his pocket, Dr. O pulls out an heirloom silver dollar.]
When I left for college, my father gave me this heirloom silver dollar. It was passed down from oldest son to oldest son for four generations. I want you to have it.
Rob: But isn't Robert your...
Dr. O: Vyzerman was my first cybergenetic creation. But you are my oldest son.
[Rob cracked a smile as he gladly accepted the coin. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake.]
Rob: I think I know what I'm going to do with this. Father, get somewhere safe. This place could come down at any time.
[Rob exits toward the concourse area. While there, he takes a short detour to the men's room.]
Teramo: This is the precise place that I have triangulated. Now if I can only...
SonicBlue: Not so fast, clawbreath!
[Sonic Four flip onto the scene.]
SonicBlack: Your rock and roll show is over, Teramo!
Teramo: The show's just beginning, Sonic Soldiers. Lexicons, attack!
[Lexicons get into attack formation.]
SonicYellow: Just a bunch of uglies. We can take them.
[The Lexicons multiply.]
Then again...
SonicWhite: More is just that. Let's get 'em!
[The Sonic Soldiers begin fighting the Lexicons. The Lexicons fall in defeat, except for a small few.]
Teramo: Regroup!
[Teramo zaps the Lexicons with his special rock beam that makes Lexicons harder.]
SonicYellow: We'll just see how your parlor tricks match up with these...
[SonicYellow uses his one-two punch on a Lexicon.]
Uhh.. Not good.
SonicBlack: Let me. Sonic Tornado!
[SonicBlack uses his trademark move on the Lexicons. Nothing happens.]
What the hell?
SonicBlue: Maybe a few stabs'll take care of them.
[SonicBlue charges at them with the SonicDaggers. Not only are the daggers knocked from his hands, but the Ranger is also knocked farther away into a wall. The Lexicons close in on the rest of them.]
SonicWhite: We sure could use Rob right now.
[The Lexicons get tighter and tighter until they are stunned by a beam from the the Bioblaster of...]
Teramo: SonicRed!
SonicRed: Who were you expecting? Joe DiMaggio?
SonicYellow: What the hell are you talking about?
SonicRed: I'll explain later.
SonicBlack: Right now, we better put these guys down.. now that we know how.
SonicRed: BioBlasters up!
[They all shoot at the Lexicons, which are stunned, then defeated.]
You're next, Teramo!
Teramo: Not if I can rock you!
[Teramo shoots a rock beam at SonicRed. SonicRed remembers the coin Dr. O gave him. He uses it to block the ray and deflect it back to Teramo. Teramo bears the full brunt, but gets back up again.]
Let's see how you di against a bigger beam!
SonicRed: I'll just have to use a bigger metal, then!
[SonicRed pulls out his Tomahatch and uses it to deflect the rock beam back at him.]
That's it!
SonicBlack: What?
SonicRed: That's how we can beat Teramo! If we can concentrate all our firepower on just one spot...
SonicBlack: Then it just might do the trick!
SonicBlue: The FiveCannon!
SonicWhite: Let's form up!
[The Sonic Five form the FiveCannon and lock on in Teramo's direction.]
SonicRed: FiveCannon....
S-Five: FIRE!
[The FiveCannon's beam pierces through Teramo. Teramo falls to his defeat when...]
Argox: Arachness wil not be pleased.
Raybin: Yes, she will, because of this.
[Raybin, with a protective glove on, pulls out an energy orb and throws it at Teramo. Teramo grows.]
Teramo: I'd like to see you pierce this!
SonicBlack: Let me take care of this. Maybe the MacroCannon can get handle it.
SonicRed: The ball's in your court, Kevin.
[SonicBlack steps forward.]
SonicBlack: Right! Macrodroid Charge!
[SonicBlack transforms and grows. He begins to fight the Teramo. After fighting the Teramo to the ground, he immediately pulls out his MacroCannon.]
MacroBlack: See you in hell, rocky. MacroCannon... what?
[In the distance, MacroBlack sees SuperVyzerman armed with his Vyzerblaster.]
Vyzerman?
SuperVyzerman: MacroBlack! I scouted this monster as it was causing earthquakes. You will need more than one gun to defeat him.
[SuperVyzerman charges his rifle and fires.]
Now! On exactly this spot!
MacroBlack: Right! MacroCannon finish!
[MacroBlack's cannon lets loose a ray of light headed to join the laser created by SuperVyzerman. Together, the two rays blast and decimate Teramo.]
MacroBlack: That was amazing. I owe you alot, Robert... Robert?
[SuperVyzerman is nowhere to be found.]
Hmph. Strange man.
Raybin: Bad news. Teramo...
Arachness: Failed... again. It's no surprise. Divit created a Teramo to assist my conquest of the Cintra planetoid system. It was the first to go.
Argox: My queen. It gets worse. I ran a topographic search. It turns out that the triangulated points show... nothing.
Raybin: This is the LAST time I turn to Divit for anything.
Carter (after creaming yet another opponent): And another one bites the dust. Who's next?
Rob (surprisingly confident): I am.
Carter: I can't. I mean, you're just...
Rob: We know, but what does that have to do with anyhting? Just give me the controller.
[After playing for a while, Carter finds that he's losing.]
Carter: What is going on here?
Rob: My new lucky charm.
Carter: Your what?
Rob: I'll explain later.
Carter: Yeah, you explain a lot of things. Just keep playing.
Pixel (glumly): It's so beautiful.
Nick: Pixel, you know you didn't have to do this.
Pixel: Yes, I did. After what you told me...
Nick: You... still... didn't want to go. It's Rob, isn't it?
Pixel: I miss him so much.
Nick: Well... (tries to find the words) Let's hope that the next time you see him, this war will be over.
Pixel: I just want Rob to be all right.
[Pixel continues to look at the Earth, almost beginning to cry. Meanwhile, on the ground, Vyzerman looks to the night sky.]
Vyzerman: You will return. And when you do, you will be made to pay for your lies.
