Gordall Trichiolachnen Kalln![]() How to interact with Gordall Kalln - useful stuff Name: Gordall Trichiolachnen Kalln (pronounced Gordaal Trickeolachnen Cauln) HistoryGordall Kalln was born in 2277 to a human mother (Catherine DeMoyes, one of the science staff) on the Survey Station orbiting the planet Wolf 359. His father had left (in the traditional manner of his race) after conception some three months before. He grew up with his mother on the station, hunting and eating rodents in the storage facilities (little baby Gnalish can be quite vicious if not fed correctly). At the age of 2 (by which time he spoke fluent Standard and had started joining in with the survey studies) his mother took him to his home planet of Gnala (Gnalor IV) where he was educated in the ways of his race at the Tupirana Education Facility. His father only met with Kalln on occasion, again in the traditions of his race. Around the age of 22, he enlisted at the Gnalish Space Academy as a science officer. He graduated eight years later and joined the Gnalish space fleet at the rank of Gtar (something like an Ensign) aboard the star ship Gort. Over the next ten years he patrolled and explored along the edge of Gnalish and Federation space, gaining a promotion to Shirok. In 2317 his ship was attacked and destroyed by Cardassians. The only survivor (with the corpses of two crewmates all he managed to bring from the wreck), he received the Gnalish space fleet award Jagged for those suffering great personal loss. Finding little solace in this typically cynical decoration, he wandered Federation space, seeking enlightenment and failing to find it. In 2319 he joined a mercenary unit and sank into greed-inspired depravity. In 2328, he mutinied against his unit when they were about to exterminate the population of a small Romulan colony. Leaving the mercs aboard a crippled shuttle he stole the ship and escaped back to Federation space. He joined Starfleet academy, and there met an unusual Vulcan named Yatoh Derch. They became friends, and graduated after an extended six-year doctorate science course and served as Ensigns together on the Excelsior-class star ship Enoch. Kalln spent over ten years as an Ensign before being promoted to LJG, and another ten before he made full Lieutenant. He has since served on a variety of ships as Chief Science, Chief Security and First Officers. In 2398 Kalln was involved in an investigation (circumstances withheld by Federation Intelligence) resulting in a demotion to Ensign rank. With the demotion came a new assignment, and he found himself on the way to the Delta Quadrant. Service Record2281: Tupirana district EducFac Decorations2317: Jagged Biological NotesGordall Kalln is a Gnalish Elt, a most unusual species. Descended from the same lizardine stock as their kin, the Gnalish Tarn (who are, in general, pleasant humanoid people with indications of the DNA program) the Elt seem almost artificial. They are extremely fast and strong, with powerful scaly bodies, vicious predatory claws and teeth, and a barbed prehensile tail, but held back by a profoundly cynical nature. This trait is found throughout the race, and although they are very long lived, the suicide-as-cause-of-death rate throughout the species is roughly 20%, something only ever matched by the Klingon Empire during periods of warfare. Oh, and they have four arms. Psychological ProfileGordall Kallns personality can be said to be exceptionally cheerful for a member of his race. The problem is that Gnalish Elt are dour, cynical and occasionally suicidal. This makes Kalln often approachable, but his racial pangs of extreme depression have made him few friends in his long time with Starfleet. His racial mood is compounded by the tragedy he suffered at the hands of the Cardassians, and although meeting the tailor Elim Garak helped him exorcise some of his demons, he still feels, not quite guilt but more a kind of impotence over the event. He rarely lets any of this deep-rooted psychological suffering impact upon his social interaction; he is friendly, approachable and good-humoured (though occasionally a black and unpleasant sarcastic cynicism surfaces), but it can be clearly seen in his service record. He has only three times in Starfleet been judged to have served above and beyond, hence the long periods between promotions which many officers would expect to receive during their first two or three years of service. As what some would call a professional cynic, Kalln would say that this does not surprise him at all. Reeto-VaughnGordall Kalln has, since around the time he entered Starfleet, owned (well, the term is questionable) a cat called Vaughn. No ordinary cat, Vaughn is a Gnalish Reeto. Although he looks and tends to act just like a Terran cat, Vaughn has a projected lifespan of roughly a thousand years (much like Kalln) and is more intelligent than a human. He can speak (well, understand, as his vocal organs cannot do more than mewl) well over a hundred galactic languages (including Standard, Vulcan, Romulan, Klingon, Cardassian, Founder (heaven knows how he picked that one up!), Bajoran, Horta, Andorian, Tellarite, Orion, Rigelllian, Centauran, JemHadar, Husnock, Kazon, Kharian, Selay, Zaldan, Arcturan, and so on). Though Kalln can also speak many of these, he tends to rely on the universal translator. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the Reeto-Federation lobbying board, they still have not managed to get the unitrans to speak to them, so Vaughn must rely on actual understanding. Kalln and Vaughn seem to have an almost empathic communication link, but in fact Vaughn can understand every word and Kalln takes his cues from an extraordinarily complicated set of visual clues and mewling. StuffTo every posting, Kalln takes with him a large collection of baggage, heirlooms and various objects. Some of his favourite items are:
