I hear you howling in the night,
Wailing in the pale moonlight,
Bay oh wolf of eons by,
Bay away while I here lie.
I listen to your anchient call,
As shadows dance on bedroom wall,
I feel for you, I know your song,
I sang the nights that HE was gone.
You howl once more, in soulful tones,
As I too start a mornful moan,
"Hush," HE calls from where HE lies,
I peer at him through yellow eyes.
Outside is silence - still - no more,
Then whoosh - and thud from closing door,
I yawn, then turn around in bed,
And like a bird, I tuck my head.
