Ok guys, now I don't know what the hell this is, but I figured if you guys only come here for news about X-Factor, then you should definetly read this!
Mutant X
(Creators) Howard Mackie, Tom Raney
Everything changes when, after last issue's awful
accident, Alex Summers find himself on a world
parallel to our own - one where the characters of the
X Universe exist under a new and frightening
dynamic! This is a world where Magneto leads the
X-Men , where supernatural forces run rampant, and
where X-Factor consists of Bloodstorm (Ororo
Munroe turned into a vampire by Dracula), the Brute
(a horribly mutated Hank McCoy), the Fallen
(Warren Worthington, sporting bat-like wings thanks
to Apocalypse), Ice-man (who can kill with a touch
of his out-of-control powers) and Madelyne Pryor,
the Goblin Queen! X-Factor, under the demented
influence of Madelyne, have become everything they
never wanted to be. They are more than Evil Mutants - they're a veritable
army of darkness. Now, Havok's mission is to steer his newfound
teammates away form the Goblin Queen and to somehow find a way home!
Trapped in a hellish world, Alex Summers has become the Mutant X! This
is 48-page issue kicks off a new series!
If you ask me, this looks stupid. Interesting, but dumb, none the less. It seems to me that Mackie is trying to cash off AOA. Anyways, I'm not sure if this is a one-shot or X-Factor 150. It seems that its 150. They said a whole new lineup, but this is rediculous!
Whats that you say?? You need more info?? Well, take a look at what Frank Pittarese, editor of X-Factor, has to say about it.
Me:Who will be appearing in the series?
Frank Pittarese:The Havok of the regular Marvel Universe, plus "parallel" versions of Storm, Angel, the Beast, Iceman and The
Goblin Queen (and a host of mutant and non-mutant guest-stars). Each of those characters deviated from established continuity
and some point and continued from there (i.e. Storm became a vampire after her encounter with Dracula in the '80s). So, while
the foundation of each
character is rooted in the established Marvel U, these characters are--for all intents and purposes--completely new.
M:Will this series have repercutions/affects on X-titles in regular continuity?
FP:Only if and when Havok returns, although Scott should react to his brothers disappearance in one of the main X-Books.
The whole point of MUTANT X is to create a "user-friendly" X-Book, that isn't tied in to the five or so other
X-titles coming out each month. It's a world unto its own.
M:Is this the new "X-" title that was coming out later this year? or is there another one and this is simply just a replacement for
X-factor?
FP:This book replaces X-FACTOR. As a matter of fact the storyline was originally supposed to begin in issue #150 and
continue from there, but after
getting a look at the concept and designs, the Powers That Be decided to make it a series unto itself. All I can say about the
rumored new X-Book is that--if it exists--I'm not editing it.
M:Who's idea was this?
FP: Bob Harras, Howard Mackie, Jason White and myself.
M:How exactly does this universe come about? Is it just Havok that goes there? What will happen to the other X-factor
characters?
FP:This universe exists like any "What If" parallel universe does. It's already there. It's always been there. You're right, Havok
goes there alone. As for the rest of X-Factor, they'll show up in the X-books as needed. I don't really consider Guido or Forge
members anymore. Guido's been in space since before I started working at Marvel (although he will be appearing in X-MEN
UNLIMITED #21, along with Madrox), Polaris, Shard and the remaining XUE characters will still exist in the Marvel
Universe. Hopefully, I get get a follow-up one shot or work in an UNLIMITED to wrap up their plot threads.
M:Do you know of any plans for these characters [X-factor line-up], like where the could possibly be used? or are they just
going to go to "not-needed-character" land?
FP:I don't know of any immediate plans for any of these characters. Some of them will probably be back-burnered for a while,
others may show up sooner than expected.
