Feb 16th, 1994: FAIRLY MEANINGLESS.
And such a simple idea. A thing in space, a girl in peril and little else!
Characters:
Kirk, Scotty, Mira
Spock, McCoy.
Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, Kyle, Chapel.
The early parts of this episode are very dark and menacing. But it becomes talky and the viewer quickly realises that nothing is going on. It's all pointless. Only the final scene between the trio adds any worth to the episode, as Mira is presented as an individual fighting to retain her identity. And we are asked if Scotty's belief in her was an asset to her. But the overall plot is total nonsense.
And the dialogue in the latter part is stilted in the extreme.
This story might work as a half-hour.
Plusses:
It highlights Scotty, and displays a four man team in charge of the ship.
It is very sinister in the beginning, so it can draw you in.
Overall, this is not an episode I would recommend. It is not bad, as such, but it is childish.
