Character Generation: Stats
[Top]
I use a modified point based system for character stats at creation.

Each stat starts at 6 and every player gets the following "rolls" to add to their character's stats: 6, 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2.

Each stat must receive two "dice" from the list.
No stat may go above 18 or below 10, before racial modifiers.

Example:
I decide I want all my characters stats to be as level as possible. I start with: STR 6, DEX 6, CON 6, INT 6, WIS 6, CHA 6.
I add 6 + 2 to DEX and INT, 6 + 3 to CON, 5 + 3 to WIS, and 5 + 4 to STR and CHA, leaving me with final stats of:
STR 15 (6 + 5 + 4)
DEX 14 (6 + 6 + 2)
CON 15 (6 + 6 + 3)
INT 14 (6 + 6 + 2)
WIS 14 (6 + 5 + 3)
CHA 15 (6 + 5 + 4)

George, on the other hand, wants to have a kick butt stat or two, so, he chooses to spend his "dice" as follows:
STR 18 (6 + 6 + 6)
DEX 16 (6 + 5 + 5)
CON 17 (6 + 6 + 5)
INT 14 (6 + 4 + 4)
WIS 12 (6 + 3 + 3)
CHA 10 (6 + 2 + 2)

If you have any questions about this method, please feel free to ask.
Game Play: Spells
[Top]
The spells of "X save or die" have always bothered me.
So has "harm" (Oops! You've only got 1d4 hit points left!).
So has "heal" (Neener! You just -thought- I was almost dead!).

Exact solutions for these are not nailed down yet, but, tentative substitutions are "X save or take percentile damage" and harm/heal have percentile affects as well. i.e. "50% of your current hit points dissapear" rather than "you die" and "recover 50% of your lost hit points" rather than "recover 100%" ... make sense? Good.
