Guidelines for Room Conduct:
The X-Mansion is a room for co-operative role-playing.
Thus please attempt to follow these guidelines to make all of
our participation smoother and more enjoyable.
1. Please monitor your word and action usage for inappropriate
material. This is a room for four-color comics. It is also a
public room and thus subject to the rules of WBS. Some of the
players here are underage and some of them connect under parental
supervision. Try not to do things that will cause us to lose
players we all like and admire. Police yourself. If someone else
points out material that might be objectionable, look at it again
from his or her point of view.
2. Profanity is not permitted in public rooms. It is
strictly forbidden by WBS rules and it is not in keeping with
thespirit of the four-color comics that we are trying to emulate.
Please watch your language.
3. Please type in normal size fonts, i.e. All caps,
'Say It Loud' or 'Yell' should only be used when absolutely necessary.
4. When talking OOC, please put your message in parentheses
or otherwise distinguish it from RP action or speech.
Example: ((Has Da Preppie been on tonight?)) or OOC: That's a
great pic!
5. While the ability of WBS to display pictures of
our Cs is nice, please avoid using excessively large ones. In
addition, please do not picture-bomb or use animated GIFs. It
is annoying to others and bogs down users with slow computers.
6. Try to help others figure out the ins and outs of
the room. You were once new here, and new to WBS too. Make an
effort to answer questions, direct them to the X-Mansion home
page, and make them feel welcome.
7. It's important that you have fun. It's important
that others have fun as well. Let's try to work towards both
of those ends. |

Guidelines for Applying and Creating Characters:
It would be hard to participate in an RP room without a character
(or C for short). You can apply for Marvel characters or submit
your own character concept for approval via the Contact page
( http://www.marvel-universe.com/csform.html
).
1. Choose a C that is appropriate for the room. The
entire Marvel Supers Universe is open for consideration. This
is the world of Spiderman, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four,
and (of course) the X-Men and their associates. Marvel has published
a number of titles over the years that do not fit into the general
theme, e.g. Doctor Who, Star Wars, Conan. We're sorry but these
sources do not fit in with the genre the room emulates.
2. Characters are generally built around one schtick,
one concept that makes them unique. This is generally realized
by giving the character one power, though it may manifest in
a few ways. Rather than trying to cover a lot of territory with
your C by having numerous powers find unique ways to use the
one ability your C has to perform different effects.
3. Original Cs should have at least one weakness. For
most mutants this will consist of the fact that they are mere
mortals except their mutation. For others this may be a vulnerability
to certain items or attacks, psychological peccadilloes, physical
limitations, et cetera. Marvel Cs will naturally have all the
powers and limitations that are displayed in the comics.
4. Marvel Cs are 'on loan' from the room. This means
that if you would like to play a Marvel C, ask for it. After
some discussion with the admin, staff, or someone else designated
for the job you'll get to play the C for a trial period. If you
fill the role well you'll be asked to play the C regularly. Please
play your character seriously and thoroughly. Follow the character's
history, attitude, and the way he/she is in the comics. In addition,
please play the C often enough so that it is regularly engaged
with others in the room (approximately 5 to 10 hours a week should
be sufficient.)
5. When you submit a proposal for an original C expect
to be asked to modify it somewhat. Reasons for this may be power
level, inappropriateness for the genre, or the simple fact that
there are numerous other Cs like yours already in the room.
6. While an original C will always be your creative
property if you abuse the guidelines or exhibit an inability
to get along with other players your C can be declared persona
non grata in the room and be unregistered. This is unlikely to
happen but we'd like to get that stated up front. It is more
likely that other members will stop rping with you long before
this happens. |

Rules for Fighting:
What would a supers rp be without combat? There are some rules
that we all should follow for maximum enjoyment.
1. There is to be no killing unless it is on consent
of both parties.
2. When fighting, please do not call your opponent's
damage. Let the other person work out a system for his/her own
damage.
3. Get hit sometimes, get knocked around, get knocked
out. This is comic book action; if you avoid everything or are
invulnerable to everything, you're missing out on half the fun.
4. Make your attacks 'realistic'. Stay within your
C's abilities and powers. If you're inexperienced, let it show.
5. If you think someone is Godmoding, PM him/her about
it. Before you ignore a person for Godmoding, be sure of his/her
capabilities and powers. If you don't know what powers a person
has, ask them OOC because while you may think they are Godmoding
it may be you who are unaware of their powers.
6. Have fun!
Guidelines for Continuity:
We try to maintain continuity with the published version of
Marvel Comics. This does not mean you have to lock-step through
every panel of every issue your C appears in. Rather the continuity
is there as a guideline so everyone can know what to expect in
the room as an ongoing background. With that in mind here are
some guidelines to follow continuity.
1. World-altering events (historical, powers-wise,
etc.) will be followed as ongoing currents in the room. Examples
of this are Onslaught, Psi-Wars, Operation Zero-Tolerance, or
Ragnarok, which affected everyone on the planet.
2. If you are playing a Marvel C please follow the
C that you have chosen. Avoid re-creating the C as you think
it should have been, or follow paths that are implausible or
go against the published version.
3. If the Marvel C has undergone some change in station
in the comics, let it show in your rp. Injuries, absences, rivalries
or relationships can all be exploited for C fodder. If you can't
think how the change would effect your C while still allowing
you to play it, ask around and see if anyone can provide suggestions
on how you can.
4. Death and imprisonment: Unfortunately we do not
have control have what Marvel may choose do to with a published
C, especially in the case of villains or those who have died
heroic deaths. If a C has been killed in the comics, or is imprisoned
without word of what they are doing, expect to have to put the
C on hold or retire it.

*** If a character is already taken please choose
another character or create your own original character! Absolutely
no doubles unless they are a clone! HOWEVER, clones are EXTREMELY
frowned upon since on the most part they are PATHETICALLY RPed
or constructed! ***
