Thor's Hammer

An interesting episode. Note to readers: If you ever show friends of yours episodes of SG-1, DON'T show them this one. I can guarantee that they will fall on the floor in fits of hysterics shouting "You watch *this*? Hahahahahhaaaa!!!!" Well...okay...so I can't guarantee it...but, as in everything you do, you should assume worst case scenario. In which case, that would be worst case scenario. You see, while Brief Candle is the first full episode of SG-1 I saw, this is the first glimpse I got of it. I turned it on right around the time when Teal'C and O'Neill were trying to get Unas into the hammer or whatever. I watched it for maybe three minutes. I thought to myself, swear to God, "Oh God...another one of those crappy sci-fi movies on Showtime that no one watches". Then I turned it off (Then, maybe two days later, I saw Brief Candle and...well...you know the rest). So...I'm just glad I got that out of the way. Anyway....

So isn't Thor a happy being? He's big, tall, and has a long curly beard. He has a deep booming voice and he is a God. I'm sure he knows he's a God. He probably has a big superiority complex (Well...okay...so whoever watched Thor's Chariot knows that isn't true but still...) and he's just full of himself. But that's okay. I don't mind. Unas, however, is a very sad, very pathetic being with a voice likened to Darth Vadar. Unas is also very ugly. He is a tall, non-human reptillian....thing who needs a manicure. I don't like him. Why won't he just die?! Because it takes him forever to, you know. And that is very annoying. I feel that this whole problem could have easily been avoided if SG-1 carried around those neat little handheld nuclear war missiles that they had in Starship Troopers (I didn't really like the movie...I just liked those missiles). The episode would have been simplified by ending with
"NUKE 'EM!!!"
"Okay."
boom
The End
But I suppose for the pacifists out there (would you believe I'm one of them?) they had to do things the slow way. But that's okay. Slow can be good...unless you're a slug in which case it's normal, but not necessarily good......You know, Unas kinda looked like a slug...in a non-sluggy kind of way...

Kendra was interesting. It's good to know that something of the host DOES survive...I guess. Too bad about the Hammer though. Sorry it had to go boom. I liked the hammer. It was pretty. We see more of Garwyn (aww...did I ruin it for you?)later on in season two. So that's nice. Anyway, I think that's all I can think of about this episode. Oh yeah, the music for it reminded me of David Arkenstone's Quest of the Dream Warrior. But that's not really funny. That's just kinda weird.
