Part Two
Inside the warehouse Spike was sitting in his wheelchair watching a TV screen. The video playing was the one he had taken of the slayer fighting with one of his vampires. He was completely engrossed in the film, concentrating on every move the slayer made. All of a sudden he sat up straight, sniffed the air and looked around. A door at the side of the warehouse opened with a creak, and a little girl in a pink sundress cautiously entered the spacious room. She whimpered and examined her surroundings. Spike, recognizing the smell of sweet innocent blood, grinned and rolled toward her.
"What's the matter?" Spike asked of the girl compassionately.
"I want my mommy," the girl pouted.
"Well, I'm afraid your mommy isn't here, so you'll have to put up with me." Spike rolled closer to her and offered his hand to her. "Come on, I'll help you find your precious mommy."
Angelus and Drusilla watched these goings on from the upper level of the warehouse. They watched the child hesitantly grasp Spike's cold hand. Drusilla jumped up and down happily, while Angelus looked on, amused.
"Good girl," said Spike as he leaned over her and kissed her cheek, then violently bit her neck and began to drink. He had almost finished, when he was interrupted by the sound of clapping.
Angelus applauded as he came down the stairs, followed by Drusilla. She went over to Spike who had thrown the girl down to the floor and looked very confused.
"Good boy," she said, kissing Spike on the cheek. "You need to keep your strength up."
"Yeah. Way to hunt 'em and kill 'em." said Angelus, repressing his laughter.
"What is this?" demanded Spike. "I don't want to be bloody hand-fed!"
"You've got to eat something. We thought you should have a challenge. Unless, of course, you want to go and hunt down at the Special Olympics," Angelus said mockingly.
Spike spun around to angrily face his tormentor. "If you were doing your job, the bloody slayer and all her friends would be dead by now."
"Spike, Angel has a plan. It's already set in motion." Drusilla spun around and around. Angelus caught her and let her hang in his arms.
"Tomorrow." said Angelus. "Buffy will be gone for good." Spike couldn't help but smile.
That evening, the day before the full moon, Willow was in her room typing up a report on her computer. She stopped typing and thought, trying to remember what 'recommend' was in French. She sighed, unable to remember, and reached into her bag for her French book. She pulled it out, and out with it came the yellow disk. Willow was happy to take a break from homework so she slipped it into the disk drive. She opened the one untitled application and waited for it to load. Rows of strange words came up on the screen and next to them the English translation. Willow gasped when she read the title 'Ritual of Restoration.'
Willow jumped around her room excitedly and picked up the phone and dialed Buffy¹s number. No one answered. Desperately, Willow called Giles. He did not believe her at first, but he decided Ms. Calendar must have translated it before she had died. Giles instructed Willow not to tell Buffy until the prophecy had been dealt with. Willow consented.
The next afternoon Giles, Willow, and Xander were congregated in the library. Buffy bounded inside.
"Hi guys!" she exclaimed.
"It's Buffster!" Xander said. "Ready for some heavy-duty slaying?"
"I guess." replied Buffy. "Giles, any more news?"
"Well, I've looked in a few more of my books, but could find nothing on the prophecy. I read it over and over. It says the slayer must go alone in a fight to the death with the monster."
"Oooh! Sounds like good fun," said Buffy sarcastically.
"You are stronger of course. It must not be a very big threat or I would have heard about it." said Giles.
"I should probably be there when it rises before it can get out and kill some people," said Buffy.
"That would be nice." Xander said.
Buffy looked at the clock. It was 5:30. "So how do I kill this thing?"
"Well it's a general monster so I assume the general ways. Beheading, neck snapping... I would go with beheading, it seems most practical." Giles answered.
"Beheading it is," Buffy said. She went to the weapon cabinet and took out a long two-edged sword. She took a couple of expert swipes, and seemed satisfied.
"You sure you don't want a couple of stakes?" asked Willow.
"Good idea," Buffy said, taking the supplies, "just in case I encounter some of the vampiric kind on the way."
"Be careful." Willow warned.
"This shouldn't take long," Buffy said. "I'll be back soon."
"Of course. No need for worry. We'll be waiting for you here, and if you're not back in a few hours we'll come to see if anything..." Giles hesitated. "It will be fine. But...be careful."
"Aren't I always?" said Buffy as she left. "See ya!"
"Have fun!" Xander yelled after her.
Giles, Willow and Xander were hanging around in the library waiting for Buffy to return. Giles was looking through his books, Willow was surfing the net, and Xander was practicing his fighting technique. They all looked up when a delivery guy came into the library.
"I've got a package for a Willow Rosenberg," he read off.
"Ooh! That's me!" squealed Willow as she bounded over to sign for the package. The delivery man left and Willow brought the medium-sized brown box back to the table.
"Whacha got there Will?" Xander asked.
Willow opened the box and took the contents out, which was wrapped in bubble wrap. "Oo, I love this stuff!" she commented. She removed it and helped up to the light a shiny transparent sphere.
"What is that thing?"
"An orb of Thessulah." said Willow, and the orb caught the light and glowed and beautiful translucent yellow.
