The Fen Longbow

The AH-64D FEN ‘Longbow’ is the newest and the most advanced insertion helicopter produced by the FEN design team to date.
Currently, FEN plans to provide 5 extra platforms to the SHIVER forces on Mort for rapid deployment purposes. Additionally, FEN won two major competitions to deliver AH-64D ‘Longbows’ - one to Dante for 30 aircraft and the other to Cross for 67 aircraft.

"Hey with the new Longbow our forces can be rapidly deployed almost anywhere in the safety of an armoured vehicle. Before this puppy came allong we had our trusty APC and that could only go where the roads were."
-Dullagan. SHIVER. 900sd

Sales of the helicopter to resource worlds could pose a unique problem in that missions will be flown over water. This has never been a concern to the SLA Military because the AH-64 mission has never been defined to fly over water. As a consequence, problems focusing on over water mishaps, water impact, airframe submersion rates, and underwater egress have never been addressed. Survival Systems Group is now addressing the issue of training aircrews in underwater egress in FEN configured METSTM trainers at the request of the SLA Military.

The Longbow weapon systems are not designed for long range combat, surface or air. Instead the Longbow uses laser, infrared and other high technology systems — like the Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision System — to find, track and attack both armoured and infantry targets, relying on the accuracy of the weapons rather than actual battlefield potency.
The Dante version comes with 16 laser guided precision M-RAD (Medium Range Armour Defeating) missiles, intended to give close support for infantry units while deploying into hostile environments. AH-64D FEN ‘Longbows’ have greater weapons accuracy at short ranges and have the ability to complete missions effectively at night and in virtually any weather. The FEN ‘Longbow’s’ advanced communications and combat capabilities gives battlefield ommanders the ability to more effectively manage the battlefield whilst providing effective troop movement.

The most promising aspects of the design indicate the ‘Longbow’...

In Game Stats.
Max Speed - 195 mph
Min Speed - 0 mph (hovering)
Turning circle - 0 (stationary)100 (top speed)
P.V.- 26
I.D.- 300

Armament- WarWorld

Non-WarWorld Max Load - 3636kg
Crew - 3 (Pilot, Tactical & Navigation, Gunner)
Passengers - 25 (human size)
Power - 20,000 hours

M-RAD Missiles
Max effective range- 1500M
PEN - 14. DMG - 30. AD - 18. Blast Radius - 20.

All firing from M-RAD missiles has +3 to hit. Also the targeting systems allows for Marksman skill to be used whilst airborne.

Stealth Capabilities.
The Longbow has a radar absorbant hull and heat sinks to reduce detection by enemy forces. This system isn't intended to baffle the most advanced sensors but to provide a safety screen whilst deploying troops behind friendly lines. The Confound Sensor design team are working on an upgrade to allow the Longbow to penetrate enemy lines but the two field tests so far have proved unsuccessful.

In game terms this provides a -3 penalty on all tracking and targetting systems.

"The 'copter has proved it's worth deploying troops behind friendly lines and has given a good account of itself deploying close to enemy forces. At the end of the day I feel it is a worthwhile addition to our arsenal."
