The Department of sanitation is responsible for the disposal and treatment of the waste produced on Mort. Though most operatives associate the department soley with sewers they are responsible for a great deal more. The Department has to deal with toxic spillages, rat infestations, cockroaches and a whole number of other 'mundane' tasks to keep Mort clean.
Department of Sanitation Motto :
The object of all dedicated company employee should be to analyse thoroughly all situations, anticipate all problems prior to their occurrence, have answers for these problems when called upon.
"However when you are up to your arse in alligators, it is difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp."
Morton. Sewer Employee. Sector 1aa 900SD. Being asked what he thinks of the Departments motto.
The Department of sanitation has perhaps the most unenviable task of trying to keep the streets of Mort clean. Faced not only with Carriens, Carnivorous Pigs, Rival Company Operatives and Cognates, the average sewer worker's environment is far from enviable. The stench is of such foulness that respirators are standard in some of the worst areas.
The main access points to the workers are guarded by 2inch steel doors and cameras watch the main sewer entrances 24 hours a day. Still reports of missing sewer workers are fairly commonplace, so much so that 35% percent of all sewer related BPN's are connected in some way to the unfortunate dissapearance of one of these brave employees.
Recently the Department has been issued with DAR (DNA Altered Rodents) in an attempt to assist in the culling of local species. Results of teh first field tests are still being analysed and will be made available to operatives once this is completed.
Standard workwear for a Sewer Worker
Standard Sewer Worker training is in the areas of :
All sewer station points have monitoring stations and a CAF weapons locker in case of emergency.
Recent deployments in the field have seen several sewer stations using DAR (DNA Altered Rodents) handlers in an attempt to curb the local vermin population. The results of the first field trials look promising and it should only be a matter or time till these units are a common site in the Sewer Workers arsenal.
It is a well documented fact that SHIVERS do not like sewer station employees as they get paid just as much as they do and with overtime and danger bonus can get paid more. When a SHIVER is lost in the sewers the staff are usually blamed first and it is not uncommon for violence to erupt as tempers flare.
"Hey you say my jobs crap right? well that's right. I deal with your crap every day so I don't need you givin' me non now!"
Charlie "Dump it" Jefferson. Sewer Worker age 26.
