The Plains
Walking away from Lime Flame's meadow you expect that the ozone smell of lightening would be fading, but it isn't. If anything it's only getting worse. You check several times to make sure that you haven't gotten turned around somehow. Something trots up behind you while you are checking and comments quietly,"Lost your way, Wanderer?" This voice coming from behind you nearly scares you out of your skin, you jump and spin around all in one move. Standing behind you is a rather large red, yellow and orange stallion who is looking you over, an amused look in his eye.
You gape at him for a moment before answering,"Uh, no... I just left Lime Flame and I'm just looking around."
The stallion nods,"Ah, been visiting with Lime Flame?" You nod, hoping this isn't something this is going to get your into trouble. The stallion smiles,"Well I suppose that explains your rather strange appearance quite nicely. My name is Tapestry Flame. I'm a Flame Unicorn just like Lime."
"What do you mean, my rather strange appearance?" you ask. "It's not that hard to walk into a meadow..."
Tapestry Flame doesn't loose his amused look,"It's not hard to get into a meadow. My is a different story though. I suppose Lime told you to go this way didn't he?"
You nod,"Yes, he did. Have I done something wrong?"
Tapestry shakes his head,"No, not really, but I would have preferred not to be disturbed. Flame just likes sending a distractions my way. He figures Sirah makes him go out and socialize, but she doesn't make me, so it's his responsibility. It's not a bad thing. But it is faintly annoying."
You're puzzled,"Why couldn't I get in here normally? And what are you doing in here that's so important?"
Before Tapestry gets a chance to answer another Flame dances into the clearing. This one is blue with sea green stripes and a mane the color of jade. Tapestry looks relieved that she's shown up. The mare grins at you,"Hiyas Wanderer! I'm Blue Water Flame, Flame of Tropical Water."
"Um, Hi." You turn your attention back to Tapestry Flame and ask again,"Why couldn't I get in here normally? And what are you doing in here that's so important?"
He avoids both these questions,"If you follow the ridge it should lead you to the Chrysalis." Blue Water Flame snorts, it sounds like she's trying hard not to break out laughing. Tapestry turns to glare at her. Your gaze follows the ridge, it looks like a good place to go. You nod farewell and then set out along the ridge. Blue Water Flame follows you to the edge of the ridge. "Don't mind Tap. He's just a little bit touchy.."
Before she has a chance to continue another mare appears in the distance and trots over. She has a blue mane and tail. Her body is mostly white, but there are pale blue star like markings scattered over her frame. Blue Water Flame smiles, introducing the new mare. "Broken Glass Flame."
Broken Glass nods politely in your general direction, apparently she isn't one for small talk.
You look at Blue Water flame, hoping she'll be able to explain something to you. "What is Tapestry so touchy about? Can you tell me?"Blue Water takes a quick look behind her to see if Tapestry is within hearing range. She seems to think it's safe to tell you, but evidently it isn't safe enough. As soon as she opens her mouth Tapestry shouts,"Don't you dare."
Broken Glass Flame chuckles as Blue Water smiles sheepishly. "Um, Bye Wanderer." The blue mare says.
You nod and continue on your journey.
