The Plains

You follow the path down into a little hollow in the grasslands. This looks like an area that should be inhabited, but you can't see any living creature. You continue along, humming quietly as you walk. The complete silence is beginning to worry you. Something snaps behind you. Spinning around you come nose to nose with a large red creature. You bite back the scream that rises in your throat. The creature studies you for a moment. The creature's open curiosity and intelligent eyes do wonders to calm you down. "Hullo." It says cautiously.

You blink at it. "Hullo." You study it for a moment, wondering about the black swirl marks that cover it's rose red pelt. This creature seems to be equine based, but it has paws tipped with curved claws and a tail tipped with a tuft. Hopefully it wouldn't mind if you inquired it's species. "What are you?" You blurt out. That wasn't quite as elegant as you had planned, but it worked, and the crimson creature doesn't seem to mind.

"I'm a Nixphe, from the Silver Unicorn. My name is Taeka." It says with a cheerful grin, at least you think that's a grin. It looks like it's about to continue the conversation, but before it can another creature of the same type appears.

This one is built thin and has emerald green coloring. It has the same tufted tail, put it's feet are hooves not paws. It studies you with the same openly curious gaze. Finally it speaks. "My name is Jorea, I'm a Nixphe as well."

Taeka smiles. "Jorea arrived just recently. I've been here for awhile longer, but not much..." You notice a tiny grey nixphe trying to hide behind the much larger Taeka. The red Nixphe smiles and introduces the little one. "Kiol just arrived, still a little shy. "

Taeka trails off as a strange strain of music fills the air. The Nixphes heads go up, and they stare at a point beyond the horizon. "I'm sorry but we must go. Sirah is calling." Says Taeka. With that they both all off.

You stand up and brush yourself off. With a mental shrug you
walk away from the strange encounter.
