I came of age in the city with enforced curfews and nightly shows of searchlights, in one of the worst times for the human race.

I'm well aware of the potential for sequels and prequels in the Searchlights universe. A prequel can be an especially long, drawn-out, painstaking description of the two central romances. A sequel can be a celebration of sorts... and not one but two... or more... you get my point.
