Description : The Mon Calamari Light cruiser represents the first contribution of the Mon Calamari to the fleets of the Rebel Alliance. These ships were once huge spaceliners, among the finest in the galaxy. After Mon Calamari was taken over and occupied by Rebel forces the Mon Calamari quickly converted all of their old starliners into warships. Since then these cruisers have become the backbone of the Rebel fleet. Even though they were once passenger liners, the Rebels have turned them into impressive and intimidating warships. The 29 turbolasers they carry and 3 squadrons of fighters certainly would make smaller vessels think twice before attacking. The converted Mon Calamari cruisers gave the Rebels something they had previously lacked, large capital warships.
Mon Calamari Cruiser (MC-80a).
Name/Model : Mon Calamari MC-80a Star Cruiser.
Designer/Manufacturer: Mon Calamari ship Yards.
Length: 1200 Meters.
Crew: 5,402 (668 officers, 4734 enlisted).
Weapons:
48 Tiam & Bak XV9 Turbolasers (computer assisted targeting),
20 ArMek SW-7 Ion Batteries,
6 Phylon-Q7 Tractor Beam Projectors.
Starfighter Squadrons:
2 X-Wing,
3 Y-wing,
1 A-Wing.
Description: By far, the MC-80 class cruisers represent the largest threat the Rebels have ever created to the Imperial Navy. The Rebels, and their aquatic friends, the Mon Calamari have constructed these powerful warships. Nearly the size of a Star Destroyer they are heavily shielded, armed and even carry 4 squadrons of Rebel starfighters. The MC-80 is also among the fastest of all capital ships and is capable of outrunning even a Star Destroyer. It is currently unknown how many of these behemoths the Rebels have manufactured. To date, a total of 11 such vessels have been seen in battle, but it would appear that the Rebels are conserving these ships for some sort of massive operation.
Nebulon B Escort Frigate :
Name/Model : Escort Frigate 76-B
Designer/Manufacturer : Kuat Drive Yards.
Length : 300 Meters.
Crew : 920 (77 officers, 843 enlisted).
Weapons :
12 tiam & Bak XI 7 Turbolasers (computer assisted targeting),
12 Borstel RH Laser Cannons,
2 Phylon-Q7 Tractor Beam Projectors.
Starfighter Squadrons :
1 X-Wing or
1 A-Wing plus
1 Y-Wing.
Description : When designed the Nebulon-B was one of the most powerful mid-size vessels in the galaxy. Their awkward appearance belies their thick armor and concentrated firepower. 18 turbolaser batteries vaporize any smaller ships and do a great deal of damage to larger capital vessels. In addition, the two fighter squadrons normally carried provide additional firepower. The Nebulon-B frigates were once the vessel of choice for protecting Imperial convoys. Since that time they have been gradually phased out in favour of the newer and faster Lancer class vessels. Apparently some of the crews on board these ships have turned traitor and defected to the Alliance taking their Nebulon-Bs with them. The Rebels have made good use of these mid-sized capital ships. They serve as command ships in smaller forces, and as front line attack ships in larger formations. Several have even been modified to serve as medical frigates. Their heavy armament and defenses make them ideally suited for the task of protecting and transporting the wounded.
Corellian Corvette (Blockade Runner) :
Name/Model : CR90 Blockade Runner.
Designer/Manufacturer : Corellian Engineering Corporation.
Length : 150 Meters.
Crew : 46 (8 officers, 38 enlisted).
Weapons :
6 Tiam & Bak H9 Dual Turbolasers.
Starfighter Squadrons :
None.
Description : The Corellian Corvette is one of the oldest ships still in use by the Alliance. Based on old Republic models, they have been since modified and upgraded for use as couriers and escort craft. Although not large enough to fend off any Imperial ships, they are quite effective at protecting convoys from fighter attacks and raiders. When used in force, they can easily overpower and surround a larger ship due to their speed and relative maneuverability. Currently the Rebels employ these ships as escorts for their medical ships, and as personal transports for important Rebels.
Corellian Transport :
Name/Model : Corellian YT-1300 Transport.
Designer/Manufacturer : Corellian Engineering Corporation.
Length : 27 Meters.
Crew : 2.
Weapons :
1 Tiam & Bak H4 Laser Cannon.
Starfighter Squadrons :
None.
Description : The Corellian-built stock light freighter, or Corellian YT-1300 Transport, is one of the most common small trading craft in the galaxy. Once, the Yt-1300 was the most common freight and commerce vehicle, but in recent years trading firms have begun to employ the bulk freighters and container ships, which carry far more cargo more efficiently.
Corellian transports come in many forms, but all are relatively small, uncomfortable, and quirky to run. Despite this fact, many small traders, mostly in the Outer Rim, swear by them and would not give them up willingly.
A-Wing :
Name/Model : RZ-1 A-wing Starfighter.
Designer/Manufacturer: Ddonna/Blissex.
Crew: 1 pilot.
Weapons:
2 Borstel RG9 Laser Cannons (single fire of fire-linked),
2 Dymek HM-6 Concussion Missile Launchers (6 missiles each).
Speed Rating: 120 MGLT.
Description: Designed by Alliance war hero Jan Dodonna and Victory-class Star Destroyer designer Walex Blissex, the wedge-shaped A-wing was the fastest starfighter at the time at the Battle of Endor. The A-wing is armed with two laser cannons, both which can pivot 60 degrees up or down, and a built-in sensor jammer. In addition, some A-wings have concussion missile launchers mounted on either side of the ship.
The A-wing has its downsides, however. The fighter is lightly armored, and has a very small shield generator. In addition, every component of an A-wing is jammed into the hull; even one hit can damage or destroy the ship.
B-Wing :
Name/Model : B-wing Starfighter.
Designer/Manufacturer: Slayn & Korpil.
Crew: 1 pilot.
Weapons:
3 Gyrhil R-9X Laser Cannons (single fire or fire-linked),
3 ArMek SW-7a Ion Cannons (single fire or fire-linked),
2 Krupx MG9 Proton Torpedo Launchers (6 torpedoes each).
Speed Rating : 90 MGLT.
Description : The B-wing was designed by Admral Ackbar and Slayn and Korpil. The starfighter was introduced shortly before the Battle of Endor, and was used by the Alliance in that battle. The B-wing itself was originally conceived as a way for the Alliance to attack enemy capital ships without using their own capital ships. Thus, the B-wing has a variety of weapons, including a laser cannon, ion cannons, and proton torpedo launchers. However, due to the mass of these weapons, the B-wing is significantly slower than most starfighters.
E-Wing :
Name/Model : E-wing Starfighter.
Designer/Manufacturer : FreiTek, Inc.
Crew : 1 pilot plus 1 AstroMech Droid.
Weapons :
3 Heavy Blaster Cannons,
1 Proton Torpedo Launcher (16 torpedoes).
Speed Rating : apprx. 200 MGLT.
Description : The E-wing, first used during the Battle of Calamari, was designed by the same ex-Incom engineers who designed the X-wing. The vaguely E-shaped starfighter was considered at its introduction to be the best starfighter available. In addition to the speed of a TIE Interceptor, the E-wing has both high-power heavy blaster cannons and an unprecedented 16 proton torpedoes. However, the blaster cannons are very prone to failure, due to the use of synthetic blaster gas, and the fighter has a relatively slow hyperdrive.
X-Wing :
Name/Model : T-65C A2 X-wing Starfighter.
Designer/Manufacturer : Incom.
Crew : 1 pilot plus 1 AstroMech Droid.
Weapons :
4 Tiam & bak IX4 Laser Cannons 9single fire or fire-linked),
2 Krupx MG7 Proton Torpedo launchers (3 torpedoes each).
Speed Rating : 100 MGLT.
Description : The X-wing was designed by Incom Corporation a year or two before the Battle of Yavin. However, the Empire chose to nationalize the company. The X-wing design team, unhappy with this decision, defected to the Alliance, and brought with them the X-wing designs, prototypes, and completed X-wings.From then on, the X-wing Starfighter is the main fighter of the Rebel Alliance due to its speed, durability and firepower. The X-wing was purchased by the Rebel Alliance to defeat the imperial TIE fighters, and to provide escort to the slower Y-wings in combat. Its maneuverability and weapons configuration have made it a favorite with Rebel Alliance fighter pilots.
Y-Wing :
Name/Model : BTL-A4 Y-wing Starffiighter.
Designer/Manufacturer : Koensayr.
Crew : 1 pilot plus 1 Astromech droid.
Weapons :
2 Tiam & Bak KX5 Laser Cannons (single fire or fire-linked),
2 ArMek SW-4 Ion Cannons (single fire or fire-linked),
2 Arakyd Flex Tube Proton torpedo Launchers (4 Torpedoes each).
Speed Rating : 80 MGLT.
Description : Before the X-wing, the Alliance had the Koensayr Y-wing. This ship was aging at the time of the Battle of Yavin, and was a contemporary of the discontinued Z-95 Headhunter. Nonetheless, the ship was very sturdy, and played a prominent role in the histories of the Alliance and New Republic.
Like most starfighters, it carries laser cannons and proton torpedoes. In addition, the Y-wing has two ion cannons, which can be used to disable ships without destroying them. The Y-wing had a decent speed when it was released, but is now considered slow when compared with the swift X-wing and the blindingly-fast A-wing.
Z-95 Headhunter :
Name/Model : Z-95 Headhunter.
Designer/Manufacturer : Incom/Subpro.
Crew : 1 pilot.
Weapons :
2 Tiam & Bak KX5 Laser Cannons (single or fire linked),
2 Krupx MG5 Concussion Missile Launchers (4 torpedoes each).
Speed Rating : 85 MGLT.
Description : The Z-95 Headhunter was one of the most popular starfighters ever. It was designed by Seti Ashgad before the rise of the Empire, and was available for sale for over thirty years. Most militaries with starfighters used Z-95s at one point, and the Z-95 was the ship of choice for pirates and mercenaries.
The first Headhunter, the Z-95 Mark I, was a twin-engine, swing-wing atmospheric craft. However, the ship was easily modifiable, and thus ships that were adapted for space travel (including hyperdrive-equipped Z-95s) soon appeared. Incom and Subpro, the Z-95's manufacturers, also updated the ship every year. Thus, a variety of different Headhunters exist. The Z-95-AF4 was one of the last Z-95s, and includes modern (at the time) weapons and upgraded computer systems. The Z-95 XT Trainer can be used for training new pilots.
