Music, my opinion...

Oh boy, is this one a can of worms. So considering the varied musical tastes of music lovers around the World, I'll try to keep this as civil as possible.

Music, the universal language...and some think it is mathematics. Ha! This seems funny to me when there are some here on Earth who have a difficult time making change. But, music? Yeah, nearly everyone understands the language of the beat. Even if you can't hear it you can probably feel it. If there is life, as we know it, elsewhere in the Universe I think it would be safe to assume they have music there also.

Considered by some to be magic, and when I watch a snake charmer at work I often wonder. (I assume that the snake is simply just curious about the varying frequencies it senses.)

There is little doubt in my mind that there is some type of mystical energy at work, whether it's soothing the savage beasts, just allowing one to relax in their overstuffed easy chair or bringing people to a fevered frenzy on the dance floor or mosh pit.

Do I think music is evil? For years there has been much controversy over music and evil. I for one do not feel that music is evil in itself any more than I believe a knife or gun is evil. I feel it is entirely dependent on the intended usage. Some people do evil thing with knives, guns and yes even music.

Back-masking? I don't know, but I can play my own recordings backwards and get some pretty scary sounding stuff.

I've been a fan of music in its many forms since I was young. I have heard lots of good music, really good music, over the years, and still discover more.

On a side note. I've often wondered if a composer such as J.S. Bach or W.A. Mozart were alive today, what type of music might they compose. Would they limit themselves only to the instruments that were available several centuries ago, or might they incorporate some of the current instruments into their compositions?

Music, in my opinion, is an art form, so just as with any other art, it's value may seem obvious to one individual, but be totally obscure to another.

I feel that the record industry, and radio stations, have for too many years controlled what the general public could listen to. Hopefully, thanks to the Internet, some of that may be changing (Oops!...It Did It Again). Now any composer, singer or musician (novice and veteran alike) with access to a computer and proper software (and Internet access) can churn out whatever their imagination can come up with, then upload it for the World to hear, whether anyone else wants you to hear it or not. Hurrah!

Of course, there are individuals who try their best to produce what they really think is good music, only to have the majority of the population think it's crap. But, in reality if one person, even in some obscure corner of the World, plays it on their stereo (or computer) and says "Yeah!", we'll then that's what it's all about, at least to me. Not money, not fame, but Entertainment the purpose of the art of music.

It's also true, as I read on another persons website, that even if you don't like any of the music you've heard, there is probably someone somewhere composing something that you would like. So, look around it's a big World.

Our music may not be what you would consider main stream but, that's what we like about putting our music on the Internet. There is no concerns of marketability, airplay or competition. Therefore it can be as odd and eclectic as we are.

Certainly, we could keep our music private, hoping to sell it someday, or attempt to sell it here, but we descided why deprive people, who may enjoy listening, from being able to do so freely.

===

I for one am getting really tired of people who review albums on the Internet who try to tell me what I should and should not like. If they don't like something, fine they should tell us why, but when they think they have some special talent to tell the World what to buy, they should just shut the #?&% up.

And on a final side note:

I think in an attempt to give a more visually active live performance some singers lip sync, but in some cases it looks like an overdubbed foreign movie. (okay, there I said it)

I really have to say, to any performer who lip syncs at live performances, "Stop it!"

And yet another thing:

Concerning the sexier direction some of the younger Pop singer seem to be going. Haven't we seen this back-fire in the past? Oh well.

So what, you may ask, do I like? Well, you can find some of my favorites, amongst the others, on our collection page.
