Shintaro Yakamura is a very interesting person. His was one of the last families of samurai in Japan. His family slaughtered before his eyes, he was left alone at the volatile age of thirteen. Lacking direction, and having nowhere else to turn, he became involved with the Yakuza.
While there, he completed his training as a physad samurai assassin. He then set out to destroy the people that had murdered his father. When he discovered that the responsible party was a member of the yakuza, he killed him and fled the group in terror.
The year was 2045. At the age of 20, Shintaro fled to Seattle. Knowing little else, Shintaro became a runner vowing to fight for the honor taken from his family by the Yakuza. Along the way, Shintaro picked up the alias Akira which he uses to this day. . . In his experience Shintaro met and became close friends with Lyle Canthros. In 2053 at the age of 28, after 8 prosperous years as an assassin,Shintaro decided to retire with Canthros from the Shadows and help found The Silver Lions magickal group.
In the next 5 years with little to do except live and learn, Shintaro became even more skilled in the art of the physad. Shintaro now teaches other members of the group what he has learned. He believes that all people struggle to find their pure energy called Aikido. This is what Shintaro attributes his great powers to, and he feels that to become a good physad you must develop and channel this energy to your will. This principle is similar to the concept of Chi followed in many asian cultures. Shintaro is quiet and speaks little.
Many years later The Yakuza contacted Shintaro and Told him that the member that killed his family was a renegade, and that they wished to clear up the misunderstanding. While he is still wary of his old friends, he is now on good terms with them. He has been asked to come back to the Yakuza but he prefers to remain aloof.
Sometimes he seems very sad and it is rumored that he left a girlfriend or other family in Japan when he fled. Shintaro "Akira" is a man of mystery whom few people know. He intends to remain that way.
