The Major Arcana

the history of the major arcana:
The word 'arcana' means 'secret'. There are 22 Major Arcana cards. These 22 cards are the key to the power of the Tarot and each have a potent force in itself.

The 22 cards represent forces which influence the lifes of us all. The card without any number, The Fool, represents the seeker travelling along the path of life in search of knowledge and self-awareness, meeting a variety of challenges along the way.
Many uses the tarot to fortell the future, but in the cards there are also advice about how to affect the future.

The Major Arcana:

'Reverse meaning' happens when the card comes up upside-down, with the top of the picture facing away from the enquirer. This makes the card 'reverse' often the opposite of the upside-up meaning, the ordanary divinatory meaning. 0 The Fool
