The Minor Arcana

The tarot pre-dates all conventional playing cards in the world and the ordanary modern day pack of cards antecedents from the minor arcana. The tarot have different suits, just as modern day decks. The tarot suits are written first, modern day suits last. The suits are: Wands/Clubs, Cups/Hearts, Swords/Spades, Pentacles/Diamonds. Wands can also be called Clubs or Staves and the Pentacles can be called Coins or Deniers.
Many diviners find that the 22 cards of the Major Arcana are adequate for their requirements, but a study of the Minor Arcana is recommended to enrich the student's knowledge of the Tarot. The images of the Minor Arcana are much more simple than those of the Major Arcana, but the meanings of each, nonetheless, carry an equally strong and vibrant message.
