Cocoon Report
Gaia System, Portal Sector
Last update SD 8.0214
Classification: PUBLICThe Gaia system is closest to the weak spot in the Cocoon shell and located in the so called Portal Sector that holds most of the Juun Union.
The sun is a small G3 class star without any remarkable details about it.
N-class planet Gaia has an average radius of 4903 kilometers at a density of 4.8 tons/cubic meter with extensive oceans and about 12% land surface mostly scattered in island groups and two continents. Gravity equals 67% of Earth's. It orbits its sun at 265 million kilometers average distance with only a slight axis tilt, making for moderate climatic changes throughout the 104 day year. Due to a high amount of CO2 in its breathable atmosphere it is warm enough to support lifeforms (of which no sentinent species have been found) despite the distance to the sun.
J-class moon Demeter has a diameter of 1419 km making it about the size of Saturn's moon Iapetus, rotating around Gaia in 12 days and 10 hours on an average 170,000 km and nearly circular orbit. The density of 3.6t/cubic meter makes it slightly denser than Earth's moon. Natural surface gravity is 7% earth standard, a little less than half of the Earth's moon's.
Classification: CONFIDENTIAL
Demeter carries the Starbase OMEGA.
