Real Name: Leila Davis
This second version of the Beetle armor is the same one that Abe used when he was doing things for the CSA. It's much like a tank and has good offensive capabilities. There were a few hints about who was inside the Beetle armor when the Redeemers were formed before it was revealed to be Leila. Meteorite made a comment in Thunderbolts #50 saying the name Leila. Meteorite after the Beetle watches her back in battle in Thunderbolts #52 says "Thanks Girlfriend". Leila Davis using the Beetle armor has a connection to Abe when he was the Beetle. She wanted revenge on Abe for him bothering the Ringer (Anthony Davis) after he died at the hands of the original Scourge. Leila had a part in the Deadly Foes of Spider-man limited series with the Sinister Syndicate that Abe as the Beetle led. She had tried to kill Abe but Spider-man stopped her. Later she became Hardshell and tried to kill Abe again but the Ringer now the villain called Strikeback showed up alive. He convinced her to stop being a villain and they went on their way living happily until Anthony Davis' cybernetic systems finally broke down. To honour his spirit Leila wanted to make up for her crimes. When she turned herself in she found herself in the Redeemer program instead of going to jail and was given the Beetle armor. Leila was successful in the program so she could get rid of misdemeanours from her record and was be free to leave in a few weeks. In Thunderbolts #55 she lost her armor while in battle with Humus Sapien. Using Fixer's armor Leila was able to locate her Beetle armor again just in time to suit up to battle Graviton. He crushed the Beetle armor several times until it was a small compact little piece of metal while she was inside it. |
