Contest of Champions II appears to have a few Thunderbolts related characters in it: Atlas, Citizen V and possibly Techno?
The first Contest of Champions was showcased in Marvel Super Hero Contest of Champions#1-3 and Involved just about every Marvel superhero active in 1982. It involved the Grandmaster who was trying to have his Elder fellow the Collector resurrected whom died during the Korvac War. The Grandmaster challenged Death itself to a contest of Champions. If the Grandmaster won, Death would grant him the power to restore the Collector to life, but if he lost, the Grandmaster would also succumb to death.Deciding to draft mortal pawns to form teams that would compete against each other on their behalf, Death and the Grandmaster placed everyone on Earth in suspended animation, except for its superheroes, whom they teleported into a gigantic arena orbiting Earth.
The latest information has an image of a large ship or something of that nature orbiting earth, and a large image of the characters that are going to be in it, where the character that looks like Techno in the image below is cropped from.
![]() | Now as for it that is Human Techno in the image above, or Forge from X-Factor will be interesting to see. As of right now, Techno is a robot having been killed by the Elements of Doom in Thunderbolts#7. He downloaded his mind into that of a robot body with his tech-pac. He escaped the Elements of Doom base in his form, and his human body was presumably destroyed in the destruction of the base, so maybe it wasn't destroyed and we will see the return of the human Techno in this storyline. Or an equal possibility is it's the human Techno from the past, and that could mean that its Baron Zemo in the Citizen V costume was well. |
Of course that could be Forge in the picture for Contest of Champions since Chris Claremont is writing the series. But if you take a look at the figure in question, forge's face differs from Techno's with the facial hair and Forge doesn't wear a bandanna. Also on the belt that looks like a T-bolt emblem, and compared to the image of Techno on the right, with a slight glare on the emblem to make it look like an X, if it was Forge's belt buckle. It could an X symbol of a T-bolt symbol but judging from the equipment he has on also, probably is the human Techno for some odd reason. Which is yet another mystery until the Contest of Champions II series is on sale in the future.
Techno returned at the end of Thunderbolts #33 replacing Ogre and using a small cell-sample from him to change his form to resemble Ogre. Now Techno works in secret as the Thunderbolts resident engineer.
