The Hall

A large natural cavern meets your eyes, large enough to hold a gathering of dragons, let alone human sized visitors. The floor is covered with a plush carpet, inscribed with a spiral design that seems to draw the gaze into it, following the trails until the center is reached. Tables and chairs form a circle around the room, both dragon and human sized, carved from woods ranging from oak to teak to cedar to mahogany to more exotic varieties such as Ebony, Ironwood and Silveroak. A large fireplace lies against the north wall, covered with a cast iron grate. A roaring blaze burns in the hearth, but oddly, with no visible fuel. As you stare at the fire, it almost seems to develop a face and stare back at you, but you decide it must be your imagination. Paintings and portraits cover the walls, each depicting either a scene from nature or that of a person in a valiant stance in combat. One portrait seems to have its own solitary position, however, hanging over the fireplace alone. It portrays a large male green dragon coiled atop a mound of treasure. Why the special site, though, you do not know. The cavern tapers to a peaked ceiling, with an opening to the sky through the cone of the peak. It looks as if the very top of the mountain had been hollowed out, although judging by the rest of the dwelling, that does not seem too ludicrous. An inverted crystal dome hangs from the cone, filled with some odd variety of fruit that seems to emit light. A large bar stands against the east wall, made from polished Silveroak. A large trapdoor is set into the floor behind the bar, while three more doors, in the north, west and northeast, lead from the chamber. A small flight of stairs lead up to a small balcony jutting into the main hall, while a velvet curtain screens off whatever it is beyond. The mysterious voice whispers in your mind, "If ye wish food and drink, the trapdoor leads to the cellar. The other three doorways will take ye around the mansion, while the balcony leads to Zaxares’ and Stylph’s nest. "That ye may visit, if ye wish, but take care, for they might not wish to be disturbed at certain times." The voice chuckles slightly, and as fast as it came, it vanishes, leaving you to decide where to go.
