![]() Why are we here? I have recently been following several disturbing occurrences on IRC Gor. I have attempted to ignore these things and go on with the lifestyle I have forged with my slaves and beliefs. Now, I have found myself guilty of some of the same things that I have found disturbing. This "article" then is my way of purging myself and returning to what I believe to be a more sane and healthy attitude. First, I have seen time and again a debate over what is and is not real Gor. Is any one here really under the impression that IRC is real Gor? Did we somehow go to another planet? IRC is simply a way for us to facilitate our love for a lifestyle and a series of books. We come to IRC to meet like minded people and share views and ideas. Role-play is an element of our IRC experience. However, I have never seen a tarn overhead nor do I carry a sword in my day to day life. People come to IRC Gor to explore a lifestyle. Both male and female feel the call of their nature and seek to find the truth. Much damage can be done by the seeming endless numbers of IRC sharks that currently roam IRC Gor. There can be no debate that this is consentual. Everyone does have an off switch. A computer can be turned off or a nick changed at will. We have to have some common sense. It surprises me that mostly normal people can turn on a computer and suddenly their mind checks out and they become rigid, unthinking and completely out of touch with reality. We argue about silk colors. We bicker about what color ka-la-na is. We think by typing /me kills you somehow makes someone honor bound to leave IRC and cease to exist. I recall a time that I came to IRC to be with comrades and friends that I forged a relationship with. I recall when it was more important to explore the ideals of a lifestyle than to bicker. We have become a group filled with pettiness and silliness. We have a great potential here and we seemingly wish to ignore it. IRC is a communication medium. Let's talk and discuss. I confess to involving myself to some degree in the pettiness. This is a lifestyle that I, along with my real life slave, have found great joy and fulfillment in. I will seek to restore the ideal that here is a place that male and female can come and explore. I will endeavor to help those that wish to know more about this lifestyle we call Gor. Collector |
